What Does a Criminal Have to Do to Get Impeached Around Here?

State House in Trenton

What does a criminal have to do to get impeached around here? Torture? An Illegal War? Warrantless Wiretaps? Kicking Habeas Corpus to the curb? Their crimes can't get much worse! We get it. My 13-year-old daughter who made those signs gets it. Yet, with only a few exceptions, our representatives have abdicated their sworn duty to the Constitution and the American People.

Cheryl Biren-Wright asks what does it take to get impeached?

Our country has a long history of dealing with those who abuse their powers. There has been no important social change that ever began with the established government. The American Revolution, Civil Rights, Women's Rights, Worker's Rights, Gender Equality - all came from the People and so shall this. But, we have a problem today and it's called complacency.

Imagine over 200 years ago Thomas Paine, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson sitting around drinking a Sam Adams lamenting about their King George, all agreeing that they needed to free themselves from tyranny, but decided like Speaker Pelosi did this week that, "He just wasn't worth it." They were willing to risk their livelihood and their lives to stand up to the things that we willingly tolerate.

There are many here who have been in this struggle for some time. Others have chosen today to take the first step. The blogosphere is filled with people asking "Where are the leaders?" Let me tell you, I am standing here looking out on them right now. We have the evidence, we have the need, it is our duty to our country. When you leave here today call and write your reps in Congress, contact those who gather in this building, let Nancy Pelosi know that her oath is to the Constitution and the American People and not to getting her party elected in 2008. And, when you come across the naysayer at the water cooler on Monday, invoke the words of the revolutionary hero, Thomas Paine, when he declared "Lead, follow or get out of the way."

Fight for Justice. Demand Accountability. Impeach!

I'm a philosopher (I even have a degree in the stuff). I am, and try to be, interested in everything, including the things of the body and of the feeling. I make my living as an IT consultant. What am I genuinely proud of? Having raised my three daughters as a single father.

Their crimes CAN get much worse.

Yes, they can. Murder - the murder of three thousand fellow citizens on 9/11, 2001. If it wasn't Bush who ordered those controlled demolitions. who did? Without the president's knowledge and consent? Not bloody likely.

We have a little weasel of a prime minister here in Australia, Johnny Howard, who, with Tony Blair, is one of "coalition of the willing", which the chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court at the Hague, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, said he could conceivably investigate for war crimes. Was little Johnny Howard in on Bush's 9/11 scheme when it happened? In that case he should be indicted for complicity to murder. Or was he duped, like everyone else? He has just committed more troops to Afghanistan, presumably to put greater effort into finding Osama bin Laden. If he doesn't investigate what more and more people are saying, that Bush brought down those towers and not Osama bin Laden through 19 Saudi hijackers, then I would have thought the little man is guilty of criminal negligence in continuing to put Australians in harm's way. Howard still being made a fool of by his friend Bush, eh? Some friend!

9/11

Thanks Robert, for your comments. I actually agree with the need to expose the 9/11 lies. In fact, we were fortunate enough to have Philip Berg of 9/11 For The Truth speak at the same event. Having educated myself for several years on this issue, I was surprised to see the shocked faces in the crowd as they heard some of what I've already come to know.

I was determined to keep my speech under 2 minutes, but I could have gone on for hours over their crimes. My point really was in regards to Impeachment in that we have enough evidence and need to get moving on it. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

Thank YOU, Cheryl.

Thank you and others like you, Cheryl, for all your efforts to expose injustice and to try and see some justice done. You need to be considerably braver in America to do this than here in Australia. (Although, following his hero George Bush, little Johnny Howard also, in the dead of night, passed laws making it a lot easier in Australia to commit acts of "sedition".)

What amazes me in all this is that the miltary, the law enforcement agencies, the government bodies etc. all go along and just do as they are told. Bush doesn't invade Iran - he tells his top brass military to do so. If they say no, because they don't want to commit war crimes, there is no invasion of Iran.

(My wife is an American.)
