Jesus made a whip out of cords
and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
and spilled the coins of the money-changers
and overturned their tables,
and to those who sold doves he said,
"Take these out of here,
and stop making my Father 's house a marketplace."

The great turning, as Joanna Macy calls it, has begun. It is a turning away from the worship of money and trade, toward spiritual values of love and peace, truth and justice. The whole earth is God's temple, and is being corrupted by the "moneychangers", those who exploit the needs, desires and beliefs of the people for their own profit.
We see the change in little ways, in the proliferation of peace groups around the world, in the frantic battles to save habitat and species, in the willingness to help victims of disaster. The victory of Democrats yesterday was a defeat for the pro-corporate, pro wealthy policies of the Bush regime.
It's not about Bush, or the Republicans. It's about corporate greed vs. people's needs. We mustn't stop at ousting the people now in power. If humanity, if the biosphere is to survive, we must start respecting the temple that is God's green earth, and living by His/Her values. The planet is small, love must rule us all.
