KINGDOM COME - HIGH AND DRY

KINGDOM COME - HIGH AND DRY

The U.S. was founded as an anti-monarchist nation. The idea was that a kingdom was antithetical to the notion of freedom and democracy. Today the U.S. is so deeply "embedded" with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia that one might say they have become joined at the hip, or the purse.

George W. Bush told the American people that he was going to the Middle East last week to bring peace to the region. He lied. His real purpose was to go to the region as a salesman. And he made quite a deal.

Bush delivered promises to the region of weapons sales in the amount of $20 billion. That is quite a haul for the military industrial complex. As a way to make this deal palatable to the American people he made lots of bold and threatening comments about Iran's desire to take over the region. Thus Bush portrayed himself as a protector of the holy crown.

The arms sales deal includes $123 million worth of precision-guided bombs to Saudi Arabia so they can continue to hold off opposition to their authoritarian kingdom.

The United Arab Emirates coughed up $9.763 billion for a Patriot missile defense system and upgrades to early warning aircraft.

Kuwait will get $1.691 billion worth of missiles and upgrades to its Patriot missile system.

Much more will be disclosed at a later date when no one is paying any attention.

Congress has 30 days to block the weapons sales. They won't need the deadline because they will not do anything to stop it. The Democrats, by and large, want the weapons contracts in their congressional districts because endless war is the industrial policy of America today.

Now you would think that Israel is upset about Bush handing out weapons to Arab countries. But they are not. Why? Because Washington, the Associated Press reports, has promised to counterbalance the sales to Arabs with new military "assistance" (which probably means grants) to the Jewish state -- a more than 25% increase over the next 10 years.

Thus high and dry in the desert. Arm all sides, keep the war footing high, drain the national treasury right before our eyes all the while convincing the American people they are protecting us from terrorism.

High and dry for sure.

Kingdom

Unfortunately the U.S. has been roiling the pot all over the world for many, many years and has become the largest arms dealer in the world. The more wars there are the richer the U.S. gets. If you don't believe me read the stats. For those Americans who pretend to be so sanctimonius, reread the Biblical reference "Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword". Need I say more?

Maybe bush can become...

... a Xerox salesman after he leaves office... Nah, too technical. Funny how I didn't see this in my local newpaper.

Kingdom Come-High & Dry/Bruce K. Gagnon

You in the West do not understand it, do you? The American Emperor, Dubya, called all his satraps, kings and governors to Annapolis not for DOING anything for the Palestinians. Who cares in an Imperial capital about an uprising in the vassal Kingdom of King Herod? The Emperor ordered the other kings, sheikhs and vassal republics to pay homage and reaffirm their solemn allegiance to the Empire. It is in this context that the Arab Gulf states were ORDERED to book orders for billions of dollars worth of useless TOYS which they would be allowed to use only against the enemies of the Empire in their own neighborhood, against their own kith and kind. Simultaneously, King Herod was GIFTED even more billions of dollars worth of arms and armaments to suppress the 60 year old 'uprising' in his kingdom and continue keeping this neighborhood in awe and fear of the Empire. The Emperor had to do this because things are not going well for the Emperor ever since his 'dumber' war in Iraq, 'dumb' being Afghanistan, quote Barack Obama! Russia, China and India are now competing with the Empire and placing STAKES in its far flung outskirts, Africa and South America. By holding the DURBAR, like the Brits used to do in India for the kings, maharajas, rajas and the Nabobs and following which, by visiting the most PAYING subjects, the Emperor was sending out a message to the Russians, Chinese and the Indians that the Arab Gulf states are 'out of bounds' to them despite the ongoing Iraqi quagmire and economic roller coaster in the heart of the Empire. Forget the two state solution in Palestine! Forget the Road Map! Forget Condi's vision! I am surprised that Abbass and his goons still believe in all these Imperial canards! Israel wants all of Palestine and if they can help themselves with more territories in South Lebanon, South Syria, the whole of Jordan and half of Sinai, the Empire could care less. Around the Emperor and in the Imperial Senate there are enough Pharisees, Scribes and MONEY CHANGERS (Wall Street) to make the Emperor think a 100 times before denying them their REQUESTS.
