BUSH'S IRAQ BUBBLE OF DENIAL IS BURSTING

As Iraqi daily rocket attacks pound the supposedly "safe" American Green zone in Iraq, two things become readily apparent ~ 1. Contrary to Bush's continued exclamations, Democracy is not coming to Iraq anytime soon, if ever . 2. Bush's illegal occupation and face covering "surge" is collapsing as Iraqi "freedom fighters"  ( not insurgents ) begin a broad and coordinated effort to rightfully take back their own country: Allen L Roland
Bush's bubble of denial is rapidly bursting in Iraq effectively ending Bush's attempts to maintain the perception of progress until he leaves office next January ~  effectively leaving the Democrats with his mess to clean up.
For those of you who remember, the daily rocket attacks on the Green Zone are similar to the daily attacks on Siagon before the capital fell to the Vietcong ~ but this time it may fall to a Iraqi  national liberation movement against  America's illegal occupation and economic rape of Iraq.
No Americans are safe anymore in Iraq and that includes the Green Zone ~ US Embassy Personnel In Baghdad Told Not to Leave 'Reinforced Structures' Due to Incoming Insurgent Fire
Yesterday, the State Department instructed all personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad not to leave reinforced structures due to incoming insurgent rocket fire that has killed two American government workers this week. In a memo sent Thursday to embassy staff and obtained by The Associated Press, the department says employees are required to wear helmets, body armor and other protective gear if they must venture outside and strongly advises them to sleep in blast-resistant locations instead of the less secure trailers that most occupy.
The Center for American Progress takes it from there punching deeper holes in Bush's Iraq bubble of denial.

Sadr's Uprising

When Gen. David Petraeus testifies to Congress in a few weeks, he is expected to tout recent "security gains" from the U.S. surge in Iraq as a reason to "pause" troop reductions.
But violence this week across southern Iraq is pouring cold water on these tactical gains, erupting in several Iraqi cities including Baghdad, where "rockets pounded the fortified Green Zone area."
"Thousands of supporters of Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr marched in Baghdad" today, calling for "the downfall of the U.S.-backed government."
In a battle in oil-rich Basra, a bomb blast destroyed an oil pipeline, Sadr's Shiite bloc walked out of parliament Tuesday to protest the crackdown, and a Baghdad security plan spokesperson was kidnapped today.
This anger threatens to end Sadr's pivotal cease fire, credited with much of the reduced violence across Iraq. As British Army Commander Lt. Gen. Graeme Lamb concluded Tuesday, "To suggest that good intentions will cross fundamental cultural, social and religious differences and win over a damaged population is at best dangerous and wishful thinking."

THE LAST DAYS

FALL OF SAIGON.Vietnamese civilians scramble to board an Air America helicopter during Operation Frequent Wind.Main articles: Fall of Saigon and Operation Frequent WindChaos, unrest, and panic ensued as hysterical South Vietnamese officials and civilians scrambled to leave Saigon. Martial law was declared. American helicopters began evacuating South Vietnamese, U.S. and foreign nationals from various parts of the city and from the U.S. embassy compound. Operation Frequent Wind had been delayed until the last possible moment, because of U.S. Ambassador Graham Martin's belief that Saigon could be held and that a political settlement could be reached. Operation Frequent Wind was arguably the largest helicopter evacuation in history. It began on April 29, in an atmosphere of desperation, as hysterical crowds of Vietnamese vied for limited seats. Martin pleaded with the Washington to dispatch $700 million in emergency aid to bolster the regime and help it mobilize fresh military reserves. But American public opinion had long soured on this conflict halfway around the world. In the U.S., South Vietnam was now perceived as doomed. President Gerald Ford gave a televised speech on April 23, declaring an end to the Vietnam War and all U.S. aid. Operation Frequent Wind continued around the clock, as North Vietnamese tanks breached defenses on the outskirts of Saigon. The song "White Christmas" was broadcast, as the final signal for withdrawal. In the early morning hours of 30 April, the last U.S. Marines evacuated the embassy by helicopter, as civilians swamped the perimeter and poured into the grounds. Many of them had been employed by the Americans and were now left to their fate.On April 30, 197-5, VPA troops overcame all resistance, quickly capturing key buildings and installations. A tank crashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace and at 11:30 a.m. local time the NLF flag was raised above it. Thieu's successor, President Duong Van Minh attempted to surrender, but VPA Colonel Bui Quang Than informed him that he had nothing left to surrender. Minh then issued his last command, ordering all South Vietnamese troops to lay down their arms.
