EDWARDS IS THE ONE FOR 2008

Edwards' election would signal the end of another era, namely that of Reagan, the Bushes and Clinton  ~  one that has wrecked social democracy, returned the economy to robber baron standards and caused us to be hated around the world : Sam Smith / Progressive Review

Ron Paul may be the darling of the Libertarians but John Edwards is the only candidate for 2008 who clearly sees the reality of the two Americas and can effectively articulate its consequences.

We are currently in a deepening recession and Edward's is the only candidate who can effectively take on the corporate and special interests ~ which is why the major media and Washington establishment are ignoring the Edward's campaign.

Sam Smith,The Progressive Review, captures the importance of an Edward's Iowa victory and the likely end of an era of political and corporate opportunism and greed.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PRIMARY DECISION IN FORTY YEARS

Progressive Review / Sam Smith

December 22, 2007

"  If Edwards wins the Iowa caucuses, it will be the most significant progressive primary win since Eugene McCarthy got 41% of the vote in New Hampshire in 1968.

While those who prefer the personal, albeit single digit, purity of supporting a Kucinich may scoff, even Ralph Nader agrees that an Edwards nomination would be a historic shift in the political landscape. While the iconographic liberals - those placing ethnic or gender symbolism ahead of real change - dismiss Edwards, the obese media and the Washington establishment certainly agree; from the start they have tried mightily to bury Edwards in the purgatory of silence.

Presidents don't make change as much as they reflect it, profit from it and manipulate it. Those seeking our, or their own, salvation from a president come to the wrong altar. What politicians do extremely well, however, is to reinforce whatever is already happening. Lyndon Johnson, for example, was about as far as a saint as one could imagine, yet the 1960s could not have happened without him. Put Barry Goldwater in his place and the story would have been totally rewritten.

That, in fact, is what helped bring an end to the 1960s. Nixon simply stopped the draft and convinced the record moguls to cease advertising in the underground press. An era was over.

Edwards' election would signal the end of another era, namely that of Reagan, the Bushes and Clinton - one that has wrecked social democracy, returned the economy to robber baron standards and caused us to be hated around the world.

Finally we can begin again. This would not be a reflection of Edwards' virtues so much as of the strength of a constituency for change that this country has not seen for a long time. And it would be a victory for all of us. "

Edwards?

Edwards has some really good rhetoric.  But what has he ever done that backs it up?  He is a millionaire who really loves the super-rich lifestyle.  Much of his financial support comes from other very wealthy people.  His populist rhetoric doesn't ring true to me.  Huckabee seems much more conservative in some respects, but his populism seems much more genuine.

Edwards

The writer is full of crap. Edwards is a liar and fraud just like Ron Paul. John Edwards is financed by corporations and a member of the CFR. If Edwards was any threat he would be excluded from debates like Dennis Kucinich is.

Edwards can win

OK,

If the CFR has rigged so much which I believe is true then I guess your answer is to stick to the purity of a Kucinich or a Ron Paul.  I've been struggling with this decision myself.  They will not win and Edwards can.

Edward's did earn his money standing up to Corporations in order to make them accountable for the hazards and injuries they cause.  I am sure the bigger money cases include gross negligence or willful conduct that endangerd the clients that John Edwards Represented.

I veiw this as a kind of mordern day Robinhood.  I think we need a few politicians like that.  I might be a little more skepticle if he had taken a vow of poverty or something like that.

His rhetoric on Corporate Greed has a momentum of its own.  As the Cheif executive he could do somethings like sponsor public financing of campaigns or maybe even freeze the wages and benifits of Congress.

I think he would jump out in front if he made statements favoring things like a call for Congress to proceed with the Impeachment of Richard Cheney.  Maybe he could blame some of the abuses of this administration on the fact that Richard Nixon received a Pardon which minimized the risk in Cheney's undertaking of his overzealous efforts to expand the Executive Branch into a Dictatorship.  A call for an independent valid investigation to 9/11 might also draw a greater dividing line between him an the Corporate Darlings.

Attitudes are changing.  My Congressman Mike Michaud recently sent a letter to John Conyors urging him to commence with the Impeachment Hearings:
