The Gravel truck is in full gear and Democrats better take note. Mike Gravel told the truth with righteous anger and touched a nation more than ready for the truth from its leaders ~ and would be leaders: Allen L Roland

The reaction to Gravel’s performance has overwhelmed his campaign. His aides said they got more requests for interviews yesterday than in the first 12 months of the campaign.

Gravel’s website Mike Gravel for President 2008 could not handle the flood of hits after the debate, they said. Bloggers complained that they were ready to donate money but were unable to get into the website .
“He started out with less money than the cost of a John Edwards haircut,” said Elliott Jacobson, Gravel’s national finance director.
Gravel told reporters after the debate: “We stayed in a $55 motel. I’ll hitchhike to the next debate if I have to.”

In case you missed the so-called Debate ~ which, in reality, was Mike Gravel's seven minutes of fame ~ here are those seven minutes of Mike Gravel telling his fellow candidates and the country the truth about George Bush, The Iraq War and how we can stop it ~ if we have the backbone.  ( Courtesy of YouTube.com )

Right on, Joaquin & Medicis ~

The stage is set ~ right now, only Gravel is speaking for the 70% of Americans who want out of Iraq and a President that they can believe and trust .

It will be interesting to see how the DLC and media handle this growing phenomenon .

Gravel may not have the money ~ but he's got the balls !

Mike = America

Mike just earned my vote; he also earned about $100 a minute of my money, that I will discuss with his campaign shortly; I solemnly swear I will do what I can to support him (even though the Alaskan pipeline will likely be a 6,000 mile tube of Chapstick).

Mike has proven beyond doubt that he has brains and brass (as he has done before, but without the wet noodles in the media having a clue); mea culpa Dennis, but you have farted around way too long.  With any luck, you will be Mike's VP.

Anyone reading this, please do me one small favor after hearing Mike's speech:  Get the hell out there and comment or vote on Mike's YouTube video, or post a comment here (note that one out of a hundred people respond--your response, even a short one, carries MUCH weight!

The very few who speak the truth and have no fear about doing it ABSOLUTELY need our support!

Hillary, Obama, Nancy, Harry, et. al., please go home and find another occupation, where bullshit is worshiped and admired, paid for and considered important.  ASAP, and thank you in advance!

All that and more

Last November in D.C., I met former House Rep. and Senator Mike Gravel at a conference for PROGRESSIVE Christians.

In 1971, Gravel waged a successful one-man filibuster for five months that forced the Nixon administration to cut a deal, effectively ending the draft in the United States.

He is well known for his connection in the release of the Pentagon Papers, the secret official study that revealed the lies and manipulations of successive U.S. administrations that misled the country into the Vietnam War.

Gravel is an ardent supportor for direct democracy (The National Initiative), a national sales tax and abolition of the IRS, immediate withdrawal from the war in Iraq, and a single-payer national health care system.

Gravel wrote:

The people must go around all three branches of government to amend the Constitution. There are only two venues within our government structure where constitutions, constitutional amendments, and laws can be enacted into law: the people or their elected representatives. The Framers in Article 7 of the Constitution provided a procedure for We, the People to ratify the Constitution and thereby create our government, but failed to provide procedures for the people to alter the Constitution, even though they repeatedly said the people had the right to change their government as they saw fit. However, the Framers did provide amending procedures for themselves in Article V, thereby perpetuating control of government be elites.

Conventional wisdom now holds that Article V is the only way to amend the Constitution. Article V is how the government amends the Constitution, not how the people do it. If the people had to use Article V to amend the Constitution they would need permission from two-thirds of the Congress and three-fourths of the state legislatures. This would mean that the creator of our government, the people, would have to get permission from their elected representatives, the createes of the people, to amend the Constitution. This logic is ludicrous. The constituent power of the people––the source of all political power––cannot be subject to the power of its creation.

James Madison had it right when he said that the people could just do it.

The people can amend the Constitution and make laws as long as the process they employ is fair, transparent and reasonable. The National Initiative, the ongoing people’s legislative procedures, is just that and the national election conducted by Philadelphia II to enact the National Initiative under the precedent of Article 7 is fair, transparent and reasonable. Today’s communication technology permits us to ask all American citizens if they wish to be empowered as lawmakers and if a majority of voters who voted in the last presidential election so affirm–– regardless of the view of those in government––then the National Initiative becomes the law of the land

If Americans wish to be empowered as lawmakers and truly have a government “by the People” they must go to the Democracy Foundation’s web site: www.nationalinitiative.us
to learn about the National Initiative and to the Philadelphia II linked site: www.votep2.us
to vote.

The complete text of the National Initiative can also be found at

Let Gravel Speak! Sign the Petition.

April 28, 2007

In a pre-emptive statement issued on March 16, CNN, WMUR TV and the New Hampshire Union Leader declared their intention to exclude Democratic Presidential candidate Mike Gravel from their tri-sponsored debate on June 3rd. This petition seeks to change that. In the wake of the debate on April 26, Sen. Gravel deserves to be heard. I address this petition to the Publisher of the Union Leader as I feel it will make the most impact there.
