It's time for Hillary Clinton to bone up on her classic '70s cinema. Attempting to pander to a Philadelphia crowd, she compared herself to Philly's most famous fictional son, the Italian Stallion, Rocky Balboa.
The AP reports:
"Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up. And neither do the American people," Clinton said in excerpts of prepared remarks to be given Tuesday to a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.
It's a hack reference, and it's a little distressing that she included it in her "prepared remarks" -- she needs crib notes for pop culture references? But what's worse is that it's an inaccurate one. In her attempt to appear more human by invoking the name of the scrappy underdog fighter, she revealed that there's a good chance she's never actually seen the movie. Mrs. Clinton evidently doesn't realize that in the movie Rocky, the titular character lost the fight - to a black dude!
The victory he celebrates at the end of the movie is about how he "went the distance" in the fight and because he recently won the love and respect of his new girlfriend Adrian. It's only in the shittier sequels that Rocky actually wins fights. So unless Clinton's ready to go home and be happy that she tried her best and has gained Bill's love and respect, she can only liken herself to Rocky II through Rocky V.
Adam Bulger is a reporter for the Hartford Advocate. A recent interview of his with comedian David Cross will appear in the May issue of The Believer. He also conducted one of the last interviews with Hunter Thompson.
Actually Hillary is very Rocky! It seems like every silly little attack she dreams up against Obama comes back to bite her. Her integrity and honor have completely disappeared and she resembles a very bad joke. The worst part about her is that she is not only taking the Democratic Party down with her, she is trying(whether intentional or not) to hand the election to John McCain. One would almost think that she is being paid to do so. That would be really scary. If she continues to commit the same slander and slime that the Rovean Republicans do she should be kicked out of the Democratic Party for good! She has embodied everything we hate about Bush and his unmerry band of unsavory characters. I do not understand how someone can live with themselves and do such unethical things while attempting to gain peoples confidence in an election. It does not make any sense nor does it say very much about the human race, especially those that vote for Hillary.

which seems to be the case for far too many Obama supporters these days. There were, you might understand, several 'Rocky' movies. In only one did he lose a fight to a black man, one Clubber Lang I believe.
It is really a pity that a potentially fine man like Barack Obama has attracted a bunch of silly ass attack dogs as supporters. You guys might understand, with your torrent of bad actor comments about his opponent, Senator Clinton, you are really diminishing his campaign. A pity....

It has been Hillary who has been leading the attacks on Obama. Both sides have had individuals who made dumb statements and most of them have removed themselves from the candidates side as their punishment. It is Hillary and Mr Bill who continue to use the Republican tactics to try to smear Obama. For the most part Obama has only answered her muck throwing when he felt it was required. He has, for the most part, run a fairly clean campaign and is actually stating what he feels needs to be done about the issues. That is something Hillary has failed to do. As Hillary continues to stoop to conquer she is lowering the Democratic nominees chances to win in November and severely tainting what is left of her image. I cannot wait to hear what she drops on us just before the Pennsylvania polls open. I am sure it will be as unprofessional as her usual smears are.

The American public mandated for change in the country’s course in the mid term elections, by electing a Democratic majority in Washington. And when the bell rang for the fight to start, the Democrats came out of their corner swinging like an ageing punch-drunk prizefighter that could take a punch but no longer manage to land the decisive blows.
And so it’s been for this pathetic weak minor majority, one half hearted, failed attempt after another. To make matters worse Nancy Pelosie the heralded liberal fron San Fransiaco anounced before the opening bell that the impeachment option was off the table, how can you stick your guns if you leave them at home?
Personaly I lost any and all respect for Hillary when she put on a Yankees cap and said yo New York!! (Brooklin accent implyed). Just anouther grifter carpet bagger

If you believe even half of the crap you are throwing out, you might be an idiot! I would say that you are looking at the world through rube colored glasses. Dick Cheney, A. Hitler, and many others had a lot of "experience" also. Experience is not what is important! It is what they have had experience at and Obama's few years beat Hill/Bill's any day!

I think Senator Clinton on the wrong side of many issues but she does have experience Senator Obama cannothope to match.
The real pity here is that you are dealing with the aptly named Obama maniacs whose political position is with eyes firmly shut, hands firmly over ears and mouths wide open...Sad really Obama deserves much better.

Sorry Ardee, I am not an Obama nut nor maniac. Mike Gravel was my first choice followed by Edwards. We are down to 3 choices and Obama is far and away the best of them. I am surprised you did not use the Obama Nation slur.

Jack seems to be as big a Hillary maniac as most of the Obama maniacs. Maniacs are a big part of our societies problems. For some reason a majority of our society has quit living in the real world and wants to live in Hollywood. There is far more news given about Britney, Paris, etc. than any relevant stories that we really need to hear. As far as Hillary goes I have grave misgivings about someone who continues to forgive Bill and his sexual hijinks. There is something very strange about her and trust is one of the last things she deserves. Obama is not my first choice but he is a better choice than either Hillary or McCain. Experience is nothing to judge a person by. The type of experience and what they have learned from it is a much better guide. As I pointed out before there have been a lot of people with loads of experience put into leadership roles and have turned out to be the worst leaders ever. Even though it is used against the candidate I currently support I always thought "Obama nation" was a cute play on words.

Noone cares for your opinion of someone elses marriage. You can choose your candidate based upon whichever criteria you choose of course, but better you keep such silly stuff to yourself.

It is not the marriage but the attitudes and morals(or lack thereof) that I do not like. They are not the kind of persons that I would care to have responsible for running our nation. They can play whatever games they want to in the marriage but I do not want them and their values screwing up my already screwed over country.

Over fifty percent of the marriages in this nation end in divorce...so you ask for another one to do so. The way these two deal with their relationship is, frankly, none of your business, nor shoudl it be a factor in your choice of candidate, unless you use the bible to decide political decisions.
The way to choose a candidate is by reading their history , listening to their speeches, perusing their platforms and making an educated decision based on those factors. Your rather superstitious and biased opinion of someones private life would have kept Thomas Jefferson from holding high office as he had a long standing interracial affair. In fact manyof our elected officials have had less than stellar private lives but did a bang up job in office.
I think you blinded by your choices instead of far sighted by the process of selection, and that is very unfortunate.

Bush has done a "bangup job" in his 8 years. As far as the Clintons go I helped vote them out in 1980 and voted against them in 1992/1996. Their strange marriage is only one of many reasons I do not like or trust them. All of the scandals that came to light in his terms as president are only the tip of the iceberg. Hillary was involved, quite deeply, in Whitewater and other questionable ventures the Clintons have had. They tend to behave like lizards who change their colors depending where they are. A case in point is Hillary's accents and speech effects when she is in different parts of the country. The patterns of performance shown by politicians should be a prime indicator of their integrity when making up your mind as to whom you favor. The Clintons are a team and need to be considered as one. Hillary is always using Bill's time in office as her experience and in this case she is right. Of course, she fails to mention all of his misdeeds as part of that experience. I would not want the Clintons as neighbors, let alone running the government.

You must be looking at an entirely different world than the rest of us Jack. If Hillary keeps up her childish demolision of her party, herself, and Obama, she will help assure that McCain has a very good chance of winning in November. Of the three candidates left(McCain, Hillary, and Obama) only Obama still has any integrity left. He has been addressing issues and Hillary has not. He only returns the degrading fire when he feels that he absolutely has to. Compared to the other 2 he stands upright and conducts himself in a civil manner. The other 2 are busy rolling in the gutter and grunting like apes. I do not know how you got sucked into the Hillary camp but I would heartily suggest that you raise your head above the ooze and rethink your position.

while you seem a rather thoughful and intelligent voter , a rarity here of late, I believe you are quite wrong about Senator Clinton and the needs of this nation. Neither she nor that rank amateur, Senator Obama, will lead this nation in the direction it needs to go, away from corporate control
