Nancy Pelosi: Where is Your Photo-Op In Support of the People of Iraq?

True to form, Nancy Pelosi wasted no time hopping a flight to India in time to be seen showing support for the Dalai Lama and the downtrodden people of Tibet. And that does make some sense because its a fact that Tibet is getting screwed by China’s policy of Sinification. So, jolly good, Nancy! You really showed moral fortitude and courage by donning an Indian costume and showing your support for Tibet and demanding a UN investigation of the recent atrocities.

What troubles me is this: over a million Iraqis are dead and millions more are refugees due to George Bush’s lawless invasion and occupation of Iraq, now moving into its 6th year. The war was sold to the American people by the Bush regime, which lied non-stop to make the public believe that Saddam Hussein posed an imminent threat to their physical safety. We were told endlessly by Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld and Cheney with a good deal of help from Fox and the other mainstream media moutpieces that Saddam had nuclear devices, a huge arsenal of WMD’s and that unless we acted right away, we might all get toasted by Iraqi terrorists.

And Nancy knows all this very well, knows that it was always about the oil and that the war is a moral, economic and political disaster and that it is fundamentally criminal in conception.

And now, long after it is clear to most 10-year olds that the Bush administration lied about the reasons for the war and that it was always simply about controlling Middle East oil fields to quench the thirst of a US military empire with over 700 bases on the planet---and when it is more than clear that Bush and Co have shredded our constitution, abused executive powers and used every dirty trick in the book to promote the interests of “the base”---Nancy Pelosi still maintains her position that “impeachment is off the table.”

So why haven’t we seen Nancy in Iraq photo-op-ing with the downtrodden of Iraq and calling for a UN investigation of the atrocities as she did for the recent incidents in Tibet? What’s up with that Nancy?

The Democratic Congress that Nancy Pelosi allegedly leads was elected to put a stop to this immoral war. Instead they have been getting wrist fatigue rubber-stamping all the Bush administration's repressive legislation and of course the funding bills to keep Iraq burning.

Our Democracy is virtually defunct, the economy is in recession while the Fed bails out the predatory banking system that caused the current financial crisis, we are still spending $12 Billion per month on a failed war that was left the Iraqi nation and its hopes utterly shattered---and Nancy suddenly decides its time to take a strong moral stand against the use of naked power to achieve political objectives....by China, in Tibet.

Well, Nancy, I agree with the concept. However its appallingly hypocritical to be doing this for the Tibetan sideshow when the main event and its real causes are still going largely unreported by a mainstream media that is the most-censored in US history.

It seems Nancy that you have lost the plot. You are a disappointment to us all and you deserve to get trounced in the next election. Your crony-fed “business as usual” style of politics is no longer in vogue. You have one chance to redeem yourself: start calling for the impeachment of Cheney and Bush and demand that the public visibly show their support for impeachment and don’t stop until these criminals are behind bars and our Democracy is restored.

Failing that, Nancy, you will have failed us all and will go down in history as one of America’s biggest disappointments. Put it back on the table Nancy...I can’t wait to see the photo-op with you and Wexler...you could wear a Revolutionary War outfit....

The world unanimously saw the hypocrisy in her words

I mean, how could you miss it?

She is third in line to a presidency that has aggressively and viciously attacked and occupied another country for five long years. She has not held that president accountable or made an effort to stop the bloodbath even though she has power to do so.

How could anyone in the world miss the hypocrisy of her words?

Reasons

I think the main reason that the Democrats don't push a withdrawal strategy is simply that a majority of Americans (and Iraqis I bet) don't want them to.  Fairly large majorities actually favor the action in Iraq, THAT IS when we appear to be making progress there.  And lately we appear to be doing just that.

Now's not the time to be whining about Iraq.  Now's the time to jump on and support the effort there, because American citizens' opposition to the Iraq war is just about the only ray of hope and encouragement the terrorist intransigents have left.

Spoken Like One Who Hasn't A Clue---You're Not Alone!

So you have bought into the premise that this war has something to do with "terrorism?" And that to speak with a dissenting voice "gives comfort to the enemy?" Is that it? Well, if that's the case, then either you have been completely taken in by the architects of this war (the Bush administration) or you probably work for them in some capacity. There were no terrorists in Iraq before we unleashed hell upon the Iraqi people and created the environment for civil war. There were no weapons of mass destruction that we didn't sell them in the first place. And no one was seriously afraid of Saddam, although he was a despicable dictator that we fully supported for decades. As I said, a 10 year old could see through the transparent propaganda campaign that our own government launched on a clueless public--to frighten them into supporting a war that was always really about one thing: oil to feed the 720 thirsty military bases that comprise the US Military Empire. The only enemies we need protection against are the enemies of our constitution and they are not over in the Middle East---they live comfortably in the White House and populate the halls of Congress.

You've no corner on clues

Actually, Saddam was all about terrorism. And as we've recently discovered, HE was the one doing all the lying with regards to WMD, and was intent on resuming those activities. He was the one who had his own generals thinking they still had chemical weapons.

Oil to feed military bases? Gee, if that were the real need, why not simply drop the sanctions on Iraq, and offer Saddam help in maximizing his oil output? It's a global market. Why not invade Venezuela, much closer and less dusty?

Your theories make no sense whatsoever.

Empire? Right. The U.S. is about the furthest from having imperial ambitions right next to Switzerland. I think you're thinking of the folks we broke away from about 230 years ago. Now there's some imperial ambitions.

There's no grand scheme, my friend. Simply a nation doing its best to defend itself and others, and steer the world towards democracy and away from totalitarianism. It can be a messy business sometimes, but I doubt you'd much enjoy the alternative.

Here are a few clues...

The government led us to believe that Saddam was in some way connected to the events of 911. There are no facts to support that claim.

The government suggested in its fear campaign that if we didn't stop Saddam, we might have to face "a mushroom cloud" over America. He had no such weapons and even our CIA know it. Instead, Buch & Co manufactured spurious evidence which was subsequently exposed as fraudulent. Then the administration outed Valeria Plame, a CIA agent in retalitation for her husband, Ambassador Wilson's expose. That's normally called "treason" an offence punishable by death.

Rumsfeld, Cheney, Bush, Rice insisted endlessly in their speeches that "we know Saddam has weapons of mass destruction"---the reason given for going to war at that time---yet no such weapons or WMD programs were ever found in Iraq after the war. Then, they changed the story: now the war was about "democracy and freedom for Iraq." Why the change of story? Was it because the war is and always was about protecting our access to Iraqi oil?

Its also interesting to notice, as we continue to spend US$12 billion per month on this senseless war, that no one is even looking for Osama Bin Laden. The FBI doesn't even list him as a suspect and have stated that "we have no hard evidence linking Bin Laden to the events of 911" so naturally it makes no sense to be looking for him. Gee, public enemy number one isn't even a suspect...and Bush himself has stated "I don't really care where Osama is..I have other priorities. Pretty inspiring leadership,eh? All this started because of 911, and yet the alleged mastermind of 911 isn't even considered a suspect?

The Bush administration promised to deliver proof of Bin Laden's involvement in 911 and it has never done so. Isn't that some kind of clue?

And, Mr Clueless...you claim that all this is "defending us" from some enemy? And the supposed Major Bad Guy isn't even being pursued? And instead, over 1 million Iraqis are dead? Gee this makes me feel really safe. Now that the extended families of 1 million Iraqi victims of this illegal war are going to have us in their sites for the next 1000 years or so. Yeah that's really comforting.

What kind of a shell game is this? How stupid do they think we are?

US media love to get everyone upset about the "immorality of sexual misbehavior" yet the mainstream media has yet to express outrage over the slaughter of a million people. So "morality" is all about sex then? Murder, genocide, that's not a moral issue? Seems folks are confused about the definition of "morality." We have destroyed the nation of Iraq and killed far more innocent people than Saddam ever did. They used to fear Saddam, now they fear us. But we don't need to get upset because sex wasn't involved!

Even our Democratic Congress and its photo-loving leader haven't the power or the courage to face down these people---or they simply don't care because they were actually a part of it the whole time. Since they continue to fail to impeach these criminals, one can only speculate. There has never in history been a stronger case for impeachment: so if it doesn't happen its a major clue that our Democracy is broken, perhaps beyond repair.
