Rep. John J. Duncan on March 6, 2003 made a speech on why the United States should not go to war against Iraq.    For the full speech click here:  http://www.antiwar.com/orig/duncan1.html    Partial quote:

"The Congressional Budget Office estimated that a very short war followed by a five-year occupation of Iraq would cost the U.S. $272 billion, this on top of an estimated $350 billion deficit for the coming fiscal year.  It is a traditional conservative position to be against the U.S. being the policeman of the world. That is exactly what we will be doing if we go to war in Iraq. "

Few in the Knoxville. Tennessee area are old enough to remember when “Jimmy” Duncan or his father before him did not represent the 2nd District.  Wouldn’t it be nice to thank him for what he has done and then ask him to consider signing on for impeachment of Dick Cheney?

Bachelors from State University of Iowa (1944) and Masters from Roosevelt University (1975) help to unravel important requirements for modern communication. Early introduction to computer science (1966) trumps them. It's payback time. She's been "entitled" so long she hopes to find some good coming off the keyboard into the lives of those who come after her.

All of us are in this together

Impeachment on the horizon and a filibuster in the Senate against the FISA giveaway are more important than MSMs' need to discuss snow in Iowa between now and Jan 3. If we'd had the internet in Viet Nam days, things would have been a lot easier.

This time around, we are more snowed with information than lacking it. Use the newspapers and TV when it helps, but remember we can be effective also by rallying fence sitters on the blogs.

Even in East Tennessee things are changing. Our hometown paper is ahead of the longtime county and city officials. They wrote to express their dissatisfaction with the news. I hope my Letter to the Editor gets published soon.

As for Jimmy Duncan, I've been rattling his cage for four years. He's a decent sort and I'll let him know what I'm up to.

It's like a bucket brigade in a big fire. To put out the destruction of the government, pass off to Congress, and then the people (who are the ones bailing the water) can save the conflagration.

Thanks for writing.
