Maverick, shmaverick !  John McCain is no maverick. He voted with George Bush & the neocons over 90% of the time. He is just about as much in lockstep with this administration as could be possible.
John McCain, just as the " Bushies " , is no friend of the ordinary, common man. He was, and now married to a wealthy heiress,  is even more, a man of means just like George Bush. Just like GW, McCain was at the bottom of his class & got through with his daddy's help. Just as GW was a failure at every business venture, so too was McCain a lousy pilot. He crashed 4  planes before the last one that went down in Vietnam.
Having been shot down & taken prisoner does not make McCain a " war hero ", but rather a " war victim," especially since he squealed under torture. Certainly being a POW  is not a qualification for the presidency.  General Wesley Clark was absolutely correct in his remark on this matter.
John McCain is a war-monger with his mind firmly oriented in the cold war mentality of the 20th century rather than a progressive advancing  toward peace through diplomacy.  He said that we could be in Iraq for a hundred years.
McCain also shows signs of Alzheimer's as he is forgetful, inconsistent ( flip-flopped over 30 times) & ill-tempered. Surely not qualities one wants in a president.
With his pick for VP, Sarah Palin, McCain again shows that he is in lockstep with the far-right, conservative neocons of the Bush administration. Considering his age & health status ( 4 cancers ),
it's only logical to expect a VP pick with experience, knowledge & interaction in the global arena.
What a joke !
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we all know that "It's the economy, stupid!" John McCain said that he doesn't know much about economics.  Sooooo, are we not then to infer from this that John McCain is too stupid to be president ?
