God Bless America with many Royal PIA's

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not. ... Genius will not. ... Education will not. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."- President Calvin Coolidge

Once upon a time, there was an old crone, who lived in a certain municipality with a particularly unjust Judge who cared nothing about people or God; only his own point of view mattered to him. But that old crone kept harping at him with her plea, "Grant me justice against my adversary!"

That old crone became such a royal PIA [pain in the ass] the unjust Judge finally muttered, "Even though I don't care about God or give a hoot about that old crone, she has become such a royal PIA, I will give into her, just to get her to leave me alone!" [Paraphrased from a parable Jesus told in Luke 18 1-5]

There is nothing glamorous about perseverance, it lacks the nobility of integrity, the sparkle of brilliance, the grace of generosity and all it has on its side is time. Persistent perseverance is fueled by radical hope, a simmering rage, boiling anger and resilient courage that endows one with an unbowed independence of mind, unbridled energy and gutsy fortitude to do the right thing, because it is just; fair and upright.

President George W. Bush, in his Second Inaugural Address affirmed, [emphasis mine] “In the long run, there is no JUSTICE without FREEDOM. There can be no human rights without LIBERTY. All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know the United States will not ignore your oppression or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for liberty, we stand with you.”

And yet, President Bush continues to deny the harsh reality of a war waged for oil and an occupation of Iraq, and appears to many of we the people, to be heading toward a war with Iran.

Congress has the constitutional right and the moral responsibility to use the power of the purse and demand the withdrawal of our soldiers from Iraq on a rapid and binding schedule. Congress has the power to prevent another unjust, immoral and catastrophic war with Iran. Justice requires diplomatic efforts; not saber raising rhetoric!

Congress will soon vote on President Bush's request for additional $200 billion American tax dollars to continue the war in Iraq in this administrations support of Big Oil and the Industrial Military Complex.

Congress must be pressured by we the people to say; NO! Enough bloodshed and lies! Congress must be pressured by we the people to demand a firm and binding withdrawal timeline and bring an end the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

"The George W. Bush administration has seemingly taken advantage of the Congressional recess to escalate tensions with Iran. Earlier in August, the State Department revealed plans to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a global terrorist organization. On Tuesday, in a speech to U.S. war veterans in Nevada, President Bush raised the temperature further by declaring his intent to "confront Tehran's murderous activities" in Iraq." http://www.niacouncil.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=69&Itemid=123

On August 28, 2007, President Bush fueled the fire of anti-American sentiment in the Middle East and stoked his Doctrine of Fear in America when he proclaimed, "I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran's murderous activities." American forces then raided a hotel in Baghdad and detained ten Iranians who were part of a delegation that had been invited to Iraq to help with the reconstruction process. Never a word is heard from President Bush or Congress about the thousands of innocent people who have died and been injured because of this Administration's 'war on terror.'

Any innocent caught in the crossfire of bombs and weapons of destruction is terrorized, no matter who wears what uniform.

Candidate Bush once claimed his favorite philosopher was Jesus Christ, whose other name is the Prince of Peace and he promised that "The Peacemakers shall be called the children of God."[Matthew 5:8]

One need not believe that Jesus is God to honor and uphold the commandment: "Thou shall not kill."

Our leaders must be led to do the right and just thing, for our politicians have failed we the people of
America. Only we the people can pull us out of this quagmire that we are in and that requires an inflamed persistence, for "perseverance is not simply constancy. Yes, we need to keep moving, but only if we are headed in the right direction. It does us no good to keep slogging into a quagmire. We must remember the difference between studied conviction and mindless stubbornness. Obstinacy lacks the grace and resilience of perseverance." http://www.collegenews.org/x3639.xml

Obstinacy also refutes what our Founding Fathers held to be those truths that are "self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that, among these, are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; and, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it. -July 4, 1776. The Declaration of Independence

God Bless America with integrity to rise up and demand NO MORE WAR in our name!

God Bless America with the persistence to demand this government bring our troops home!

God Bless America with the soul to treat all people the way we want to be treated.

God Bless America with the desire to break our addiction to oil and get our economy out of bed with the Industrial Military Complex.

God Bless America with Common Sense!

"Soon after I had published the pamphlet "Common Sense" [on Feb. 14, 1776] in America, I saw the exceeding probability that a revolution in the system of government would be followed by a revolution in the system of religion... The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion."-Tom Paine

God Bless Everyone on this one planet that we may share it as sisters and brothers; not as occupiers and the occupied.

God Bless America indeed with a people who will be a royal PIA!
