Why be nude? Enjoy our clothing free lifestyle!

Tell A Friend

Many naturists would answer, "Why not be nude?" Why would you wear clothing while swimming? You don't wear clothing in the bath or shower. Naturists are not against clothing. Rather, we believe that you should dress only when appropriate. Being nude feels good. It makes people feel free. It takes away artificial inhibitions that were forced upon us after we were born. Naturists believe in body acceptance. Most report feeling less self-conscious on a nude beach than on a traditional clothed beach. The body parts which we cover are arbitrary. It has been suggested that we cover the genital area because of its sexual nature. However, a quick survey of your day would show that this area is used for non-sexual purposes the most of the time. In fact, equally sexual body parts are your lips, yet we do not have any problems walking around with our lips exposed!

Why

It'll never work. How would you know who's rich and who's poor? What would all the manufacturers do? No more adornment, no thanks!

Christians

That one word, "Christians" is why our lives are so often illogical.  That we are handicapped by such a bullshit bunch of people is a mystery to me.  Sexuality in America is so distained that the repression of a basic human quality brings with it Porn, sexual abuse, rape and quite a lot of teen-age pregnancy.   I gave Christianity up many years ago as fatally flawed in favor of spirituality that is sourced from within myself.  I have no need for having my connection to a power greater than my self taken by self-serving organisations, repackaged and sold back to me for profit.

Good fo Our Health

Think how many more millions of us would begin losing weight if everyone could see how fat and ugly we were? Think of how many millions of us would begin to exercise, knowing we not only bathe in the nude, but that we would have to be stark naked to go to the movies.

Why be nude?

Are you kidding me? People in general, but Americans in specific, look so horrible without some form of body coverup that...well, suffice it to say there are some visions that are to ugly to contemplate. A nude America is incomprehensible.

NO THANKS!

Too much maintenance

I just think about the increased maintenance needs and find it overwhelming.  Think about it:

Do I shave here?

Should I use Nare there?

Do those need another clipping?

Soap? Oh yeah!

Do I NEED the matching navel ring?

Motorcycle ride anyone?

Oh yeah?  "Iron this", buddy!

So, where do you hang your access card?

You see?!  Just a lot more work to maintain the increased exposure...  And who has time for that?

Why be nude?

Thank you, Carol Brown.  You've reminded me of the experience of leaving a naturist camp in France years back after a two-week stay - our first 'nudist' experience.  Getting dressed before driving away it was brought home to me how odd it felt to be putting on clothes, almost wrong.  Scott Griffith.

I love it.

Thanks Carol. It spurs me to share a good story.

In the Sixties I took a new boy friend to a nude beach near Santa Cruz, California, and it was an enlightening experience for him.

After about an hour, he said: "Wow. I'm amazed. At first all I could do is look at the nude women, but now, even after just an hour, I'm looking at things differently than I ever have. I see beyond the "sex object" aspect, because nudity seems to just take that away when you get used to it."

That is the beauty, and the value, of nudity. It reveals how hung up we have been made by our prudish, sexist society and traditions.

Reply: the beach

Sara, I went several times to the beaches around there in the sixties. The red, white and blue mailbox on Hwy 1 is a marker for the beach there. When I was in Vancouver BC I went regularly to a camp there. Met some really nice people ( and a couple strange ones too). All in all, I really miss swimming in the ocean without clothes. The feeling is so much more free and pleasant.
