Winter Soldier Never Happened

Maddening and SHAMEFUL!  I can’t believe that I have lived to see this day in the USA.  Perhaps in some other imperialist dictator-led country, but NOT HERE in the good ole’ US of A!

Our VOLUNTEER service men and women have served with honor and valor along with shame and regret during our six years of bungled war planning.  Most courageously, however, those same forces once again VOLUNTARILY gave their testimony as to their experiences while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) held a gathering of Americans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan in Silver Spring, Maryland from March 13 through March 15. They spent the entire weekend testifying before an audience about the experiences that turned them against the war. Patriots all, these brave men and women of principle were following the precedent of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War who met in Detroit in 1971 to testify about the atrocities and wrongs they witnessed, or committed, in their American war, (Baltimore Chronicle & Sentinel, March 16, 2008)

Many of the Senators’ operators that I phoned today at their DC offices in order to protest, had no knowledge of Winter Soldier as it came and went over those days of March.  For the first time in the history of “main stream media” (could this be the final step in Naomi Wolf’s staircase of descent into FACISM), coverage of our brave fighting forces words and testimony was a total BLACKOUT!  Hard as I looked over various times on those three days of March, I could not  find coverage or even video segments being shown on the 800 channels of television my cable package offers.  All of the local and national media were informed of the event by the IVAW, yet it received so little television coverage, which is how most Americans get their news, as to have not happened at all.

President Bush had the audacity to say, “If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed.”  Followed by, “It must be exciting for you…in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger.  You’re really making history, and thanks”.  Oh My God!  He said this during a March 14 video conference with US military and civilian personnel in Afghanistan.

All that came out of his mouth smack in the middle of Winter Soldier.  For the parts of Winter Soldier I have seen, nowhere did anyone mention anything remotely romantic or mysterious.  Apparently the wars in both regions remain a romantic mystery to our Governor of Texas, George Bush, Commander in Chief of the Military of the United States of America.

Maddening, shameful, ironic, and frightening to any thinking, liberty minded individual, of which I am sorry to say there seems to be too little of late.  If Winter Soldier were given the of coverage that was equal to the amount of money the American taxpayers are forced to fork over for these fiascos, many more Americans would reconsider these criminally insane endeavors.  These wars are helping no one, not Americans, Iraqis, Afghanis, NO ONE.  They are only hurting EVERYONE involved (with the exception of the war profiteers and criminals), which is more than evident in the testimony that I had to labor to find.

Where have all the soldiers gone?

While ever their are poor there will be young people having little choice but to sign on the dotted line and risk their young lives, this happened to me in my teens, I served for 25 years in the British Army. But I was lucky, I came out with only a minor disability many were not so lucky, friends and comrades died fighting to preserve our ill gotten empire, in Cyprus, Malaya, Kenya and Northern Ireland. Why do people think having an empire is a good thing, most British people during our empire days were as poor as church mice, some living 10 to one room, some not even a room but empires are glorified by ones who gain because it bestows on them vast riches at everybody elses expense.

When will we ever learn, when will we ever learn.

Switch off your TVs, stop buying papers often laughingly called NEWSpapers and stay at home for just a week and save all that gas you use to get to work. Enjoy your days with friends and family and see how the greedy buggers sit up and take notice.

I'm glad it did happen

Even if only a few saw the testimonies, these soldiers did a very brave and noble thing by sharing these atrocities. It is sad that our country has hit bottom. I tried to do my part by writing a letter to the Editor of a couple of local newspapers. Whether they print it is another story.

And as far as our brave and noble leader, I say to you, you are an idiot and a lier.

Only 1 %

of Americans are in the military or their families.

It has been decided that they should bear the entire burden of grief, pain and misery for the Iraq War. The $$cost is being reserved for our grandchildren so the oligarchs of today can continue to live in grand style.

Clearly the Bush Admin (and McCain) think this is the way it's supposed to be.

Five years of Black out

The Winter Soldier testimony was on Pacifica radio, so tune in to the one source that is out there reporting the news and keep it afloat. As to the fascist news services be they newspaper, radio or television: what can you expect from a corporate dominated system that gains everyday from our unwillingness to organize around stopping them and the news/entertainment crapola. Turn off those who are doing this stuff and turn up Pacifica. Community based radio still reflects the people and their news without pandering to the administration of comrade Bush and the rest of his jackels.

Facist nation

The same corporations that make the war hardware also own the newspapers and television 'news channels'.  Google for it, start with 'who owns cbs' and work your way along from there.  How in the hell are we going to get anything like a whole truth from that bunch.  A national strike is a great 'idea', with about as much chance as a snowball in a furnace.  If you have ever attempted to organise a bunch of Americans to do anything, from unions to just signing a petition, you know we as a people 'don't play that'.  Which is why we have 'Republicans'.

I suppose on the bright side you have this

Winter soldier was close. Too close for the powers that be to allow them on the media.

Now you know that the media is fully controlled. Now you know that the media isn't a liberal conservative thing. Now you know that whomever is president is just part of the machine.

600,000 members of the Ron Paul freedom movement learned what it was like to be near the truth.

BLACK OUT.

Winter soldier did not deserve a media black out. They were just too close to the truth.

Try and learn from the other movements "...the flak gets worse the closer you get to the target..."

I'd look at it more as a success. The more people who figure out they are slaves the quicker we can end the slavery thing.

Your vote does not count.

Our sons and daughters who have fought in wars do not count.

Our media is merely a device that is designed to control your thought. You think the "alternative media" is telling the truth? About 5% of it.

The NAU is coming soon.

EU is in place.

Starting to get the picture?

Cool the outrage...this system has been in place for hundreds of years...start telling the truth to everyone you know. The MSM won't and the Alternative media won't either.

"Move along! No conspsiracy theories here! Move along..."

We Citizens are Made Redundant

Our course Mrs Frigiola is correct in her outrage. Opednews cited a recent poll 81% of us agree with her.

Sadly, our vast majority counts as nothing. As we approach November with a similar attitude, the President can use NSPD51 to declare Martial Law and to suspend the elections.

How can we stop him?

The silence is still ominous

The silence on Winter Soldier this month are still with us.  Even in retrospect there have been no reports outside the web and independent media.  This is social fascism at its worst.

The silence plays on our individual memories--leaving us isolated even though our voices may actually belong to the majority.

I researced the web every day and had hoped that CNN, NBC and others would report something during the Winter Soldier hearings--NOTHING.

One last try--take the testimonies to the movie theaters.  I doubt it will do much but films, like Winter Soldier can come back again as a tome for the nation--that needs  a memory device or mneumonic.

Similarly, I was to young for events like Woodstock, I was able to come to understand it by watching the film years later.  We did the same by looking ag the origininal Winter Soldier in the 1970s.  They become a primary source for resistance in the future.

In the meantime, the silence is all gloom

all we can do is keep our heads up and speak in loud voices

Phone the networks, tell them. I did. The phone numbers, email addresses, and fax numbers are all available on the web, for ABC, CBS, and NBC; PBS did not cover it, NPR had a tiny mention... if nobody raises a stink, they will continue to get away with it. Maybe people who are mad about it ought to start their own hearings! We all need to avail ourselves of our own creativity and strength to speak in one voice. It's the only way, aside from committing crimes! I think the window of opportunity hasn't shut quite completely.

Pester the media, become a fly in their ear. EXPERIMENT!  Pick a single station or network or newspaper or radio station, and just keep calling every day for weeks on end, then see what happens. Calls are cheap enough, and you're safe from tear gas!

"Body of War" film may help

This is hitting cinemas in major cities around the country, and it has a lot of potential. It will be harder to ignore. Thanks in large part to Phil Donahue, who has not given up.
