NEW YORK -On Friday, August 31, C-SPAN will run the entire three hours of "The Thom Hartmann Program," which airs 12-3pm ET, M-F on Air America Radio. C-SPAN will continuously air the show through commercials and will be taking calls during that time from Air America listeners and C-SPAN viewers.
"The Thom Hartmann Program", now in its fifth year of national syndication, replaced Al Franken when he left the network in February to run for the U. S. Senate. His show is available on XM and Sirius satellite radio and is carried coast to coast, including 7 of the nation's top 10 media markets and 14 of the top 25 markets.
Hartmann can also be seen in Leonardo DiCaprio's new film on global warming, The 11th Hour. During an interview on the talk show host's program on Friday, August 17, DiCaprio acknowledged that one of Hartmann 's books helped inspire the film: ""Your book, The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight, was really one of the inspirations for me to make this movie," said DiCaprio.
"You really got me, as a reader, to take a step back and try to understand how this all came about and where oil is extracted from. The light that fell on the fields was the most that humanity could use in a certain amount of time -- and when we actually started taking this ancient sunlight out of the ground was when our population exploded on this mass level...and has led us to the situation that we're in today. So thank you for your book, truly. It made me want to take a different perspective on this documentary as far as mankind's relationship to the planet, and the resources that we use."
