You oppose the war and occupation of Iraq. You oppose the continued shredding of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. You know that corporate powers have stolen our democracy. You understand that there has been electronic hijacking of the democratic process. You know that the corporate media is lying to the American people, including the so called progressive Nation magazine. You support Impeachment. You asked the tough questions about the need for 9-11 Truth. You supported Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, John Edwards and watched as the system stole your voice and presented you with their post scripted, pre-ordained "choice." Super Tuesday has come and gone. Your mad as hell and your not going to take it anymore. You also know that you are not alone. There is still hope. There is someone who will speak out for us all. Someone who will stand up and fight for us and against those wealthy elites and the system they work so hard to protect. That person has the courage, integrity and smarts to stand up and actually change things. Change, not as a corporate friendly and tested slogan but change for real. Someone who will talk truth to the American people and expose the lies that are the media today. That person, without question is Cynthia McKinney. At this point, we will hear voices, whispering or even screaming "but you have to support........ because after all ...... is just so bad, so awful." We need to look at who those voices are and who they represent. They are the voices of those who are wed to and benefiting the system or those who do not possess the moral fortitude to oppose it. They are the voices representing the corporate elites who have stolen our democracy, taken our media and airwaves. They are the voices of cowards. They will tell us that "Cynthia McKinney can't win." Our answer should be that is precisely why we support McKinney. She is opposed to a system which will not allow her to win, to a system that does not allow people like us to win. A system that ensures that "they" will win. More than that though, McKinney will do something else. Cynthia McKinney will ensure that the movement that Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader and John Edwards help start, stays alive. That movement is the movement for a real. representative democratic republic, where the will of "we the people" will be listened to, instead of corporate, wealthy lobbyists and those they represent. That is why we will support Cynthia McKinney and we think you should too. There is still hope.

Michael Cavlan , RN, was an Official Green Party Observer for the 2004 Ohio Re-Count.
He was the Green Party Candidate for US Senate 2006 and is a Candidate US Senate
2008 Seeking Green Party Endorsement in Minnesota. See www.michaelcavlan.org
I live in Wisconsin, and McKinney is one of only three politicians I ever supported financially (even though she's in a state a thousand miles from me). She has for years been a hero of mine. But the issue here is the validity of "third party" efforts.
It seems as if every now and then during a presidential election there's a "third party" candidate, whether independent or Green or .... Thereafter, the whole concept such third party efforts is forgotten until the next time a Nader or a McKinney is seen.
What is needed is an ongoing, non-stop CRITIQUE OF THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM, in itself a problem in that it is too easy to control by dominant financial powers. Since the emergence of the Democratic Leadership Council (another Bill Clinton present along with NAFTA, the 1996 Telecom Act and Welfare "reform") that moved the Dem Party so deeply into the corporate sphere, the two parties differ but little. The multi-party countries of Europe with their widely divergent platforms and missions keep their citizens interested and engaged. Several small parties can form a coalition to challenge a large party. In the U.S., the caustic comment of "Republicrat Party" is well deserved and a reason that so many Americans have tuned out of politics.
For this reason I will not vote for my hero, Cynthia McKinney. On the other hand, I would like to see the two party system relegated to the dust bin of history so that, in some happy future, I could cast my vote for such as she.

there is a rumor going around now that Ralph Nader may throw his hat in the ring again. That would really muddle things for both the Greens and the Democrats.

It is the time for ALL 3rd Parties to stop doing the same thing over and over again. The only way we can destroy the "R+D=1 Party" system is if ALL the 3rd parties got together and put up two candidates. The United Party, or something like that. Wasn't there a Unity 08 thing going on too? But I would say that the ones who have been maginalized should get the chance to run. Ron Paul, Cynthia McKinney, ect... could and should run (especially those two together) and rail against the "R+D=1 Party". Let's start this from the grass roots. Inform 3rd Parties that we need to unite to take down this leviathan!! Our slogan can be "Together we stand, Divided we fall". Kind of corney but what slogan isn't?
People that tow the "establishment" or corporate line, or owns any media news organizations should be excluded. Same for anyone who says "stay the corse" or has a record of promoting and/or profiting from war.
