Cuyahoga County Commissioners want to replace Diebold Electronic Voting Machines Link to article
Cuyahoga County will most likely be scrapping the same voting systems that Utah now uses. Utah election officials like Lt. Governor Herbert and Sherrie Swensen would like to purchase the old voting systems being scrapped by Cuyahoga County, OH!
The above article explains concisely some of the advantages of paper ballot optical scan systems over DRE touchscreens.
Let us hope that Utah's election officials get smart instead and move to a less expensive, more reliable, secure paper ballot precinct-based optical scan voting system, and implement real manual audits of machine vote counts - unlike the sham procedure conducted in November 2006 which merely compared two paper records and never publicly released the actual machine counts or compared the voter-verified paper record counts to the machine counts used in the actual tallies.
