Shearing the Sheep or The Magician

There is an ancient story about a shepherd who had a large flock of sheep. The sheep roamed about, trying to escape from the shepherd who they knew wanted their wool, skins and meat. Sometimes they would fall into ravines, getting stuck in fences, causing the shepherd much time and effort to get them back into the flock safely.

He thought and thought and finally came up with a plan. He hypnotised the sheep and told them that they were free, that there was no shearer to take their wool, no butcher to take their meat, so there was no reason to flee.

They were hypnotised, so they believed him and contentedly ate the grass, stayed out of the ravines and did not get stuck in the fence. In fact, there was no more need of fences, so that was a saving for the magician/shepherd.

Of course, he still took their wool, hides and meat, when the time came, but they did not run away or complain or realize their fate until it was too late.

The American public are like the sheep, they have been hypnotised to believe that they are free, so why would they demand freedom?

The President and Congress are part of the hypnotised masses too – after all, in every flock of sheep there are one or two leaders – right?

The shepherd is represented by the rich elites who, with the influence of money, bought the means of hypnotising the population, the media.

The sheep continued to eat the grass; content in the knowledge that nothing bad was going to happen to them. No one was coming to shear the wool (the sweat of their labour), no one was coming to take their skins (their houses), and no one was coming to take their meat (their very lives).

Some one once said that there are only two things certain in life – taxes and death. Looks like that's all the American population can look forward to – unless...

jail

Kind of like the old saying from BE HERE NOW, Ram Dass. "How can a man get out of jail until he realizes he's in jail?" Soo much down to the economy as a job doesn't do it these days, one needs a "career", in other words, make an investment, once this has been done "situational ethics" begins" or "the great America ass kiss. Hang in there America, even in the darkest hour all will be well. Why? you ask.  It will be well or it will be no more. OPAH !  Eventually we will see the light, EVERYBODY loves their kids, maybe it's time to listen to them.

jail

Thanks for the comment Davy. I have read many 'answers' to the crisis in the political life of the USA on quite a few different sites, and I was hoping for something different from the usual, and lo and behold, you came up with one. The most important word in the article was the last one - unless...

Listening to our children is about as far away as you can get from the usual, but very few mention anything that seems to set people on fire, or the members of Congress for that matter. It's a conundrum.

Thanks
