This morning, thanks to our friends at "Time" we have just seen a glimpse into what we believe is one of the most important political books of the year, Al Gore's, "The Assault On Reason."

This cover story article is fair, balanced and great insight into both Al Gore and the new book.

Of course, this will also start the attacks - but what you see is a man who knows what's right, what to do and how to fight - not to mention what he is fighting far.

It will be interesting to watch the attacks, because they have to make him an object of ridicule.

Why? Well, here's a quote from a tobacco executive:

"Our offensive strategy is to shoot the messenger."

And here's the perfect example from this morning.

John Edwards wants to end the war in Iraq. Mike Huckabee wants to make fun of his haircut. That's pathetic.

Assault or rather beating a dead horse?

Well written, except that Al Gore should practice what he preaches and not alter/obfuscate science. Sadly the people who would benefit most from his work will either not bother to read it or will not understand it, and many will just listen to the "editorial book reviews" produced by our "free" mass media.

Since the late 1980s I've been sarcastically quipping "Reading is optional, yes?" to the multitude who refuse to read a few pages of a user manual and even a sentence on their computer screen. In the late 1990s I was forced to add "Thinking is optional, yes?" to my repertoire and now have to use it more than the former. All along, the majority of recipients didn't understand what I meant.

I forward articles like this on to "the mailing list" but what I get return are dumb jokes and silly photos. I then solicit comments and they are either "I didn't have time to read it" or something barely related to the subject. Game over: They have either no time or no clue, or perhaps both. What they do listen to and comprehend are the pundits and attack dogs that constitute our so-called "free" news media. I concede, Adolf Hitler was correct, "If you wish the sympathy of the broad masses, you must tell them the crudest and most stupid things."

What good fortune for those who control our government and great country that the people do not think, yes?

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and forth, takes a peep at the leader, honks a little bit from behind, distracts everyone and writes on what he sees. Time passes and as he wants to return back to his place he discovers someone else there. Thus he either has to wait until they land for rest...

This is again about the hypocricy of the US govt ( Gore included) The US companies are heavily investing in the cigarette production and distribution in Russia ( the above is the Russian original paper on it called ' Investments in Death'). I would advise the authors to ask someone to translate that paper for them. Again, this is not about Gore alone but he is the part of the establishment and we cannot forget that he sold the country to Bush in Y2000.
