MISSION STATEMENT
1) We believe Bush and Cheney have committed many impeachable offenses. If elected, we will work to impeach them in the first two opening weeks of the 111th Congress, and will continue the process after they leave office. We will get rid of precedents they have set, and make them subject to criminal proceedings, which will strip them of the perks and protections that ex- executives usually receive. We will restore the rule of law, and bring lawbreakers to justice.
2) We will seek to restore the Constitution, especially the balance of powers among the branches, and the Bill of Rights.
3) We will work to restore paper ballots and ensure the integrity of the election process.
4) We will work for withdrawal from occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, stop threatening Iran, and seek a negotiated peace with these countries, on a fair basis. We will work actively for world peace, and put an end to endless war.
5) We will make it priority to address global concerns such as global warming, and to work with other nations on the basis of leadership, not military might. We will put planetary survival and restoration of ecological balance above private profit.
6) We will seek to control nuclear weapons by restoring the nuclear NonProliferation Treaty, pressuring Israel, India and Pakistan to join it, and start the process of disarmament of nuclear nations mandated by Article VI.

I'll have 2 senators and a congressman please. Kay B. Hutchinson, John Coryn and Siro Rodriguez are My SW Texas rubber stamping empowerers of satan. Send Me some representatives that were made in America, and please make it fast. I would like to nominate Alex Jones for governor of Texas to replace Rick (they forgot the P in front of the rick) Perry our current Bilderberg plant\governor. Mr. Perry has had a whopper of a fire sale here and is sold out to the corporate fascist machine. Will somebody please second the motion ? by

Like your activism Carol but is mereBELIEVING really enough? 1) We believe Bush and Cheney have committed many impeachable offenses. If elected, we will work to impeach them in the first two opening weeks of the 111th Congress, and will continue the process after they leave office. We will get rid of precedents they have set, and make them subject to criminal proceedings, which will strip them of the perks and protections that ex- executives usually receive. We will restore the rule of law, and bring lawbreakers to justice. Unlike me Carol, you are a woman of faith, but like me you are strongly and consistently in favour of impeachment for what I think are very good reasons. As indeed your above paragraph suggests. But Carol, I've come to like you a bit from reading what you've written and I don't want to see you waste your time on forms of activism that have little realistic prospect of success. (Nor discourage you from raising awareness which may be what this is actually about). I don't doubt for a moment that a few good candidates might manage to replace a few recalcitrant incumbents but I do doubt that a whole swag of candidates can sweep through the congress like a broom. I don't say it is impossible - just very very unlikely, for reasons that have to do with human nature. But if it is possible how would it work? How would you knew broomers actually persuade voters to vote for you? Your "thrust" to office is not based on a broad platform of policy or on experience in government (and I'm not saying that is bad) but is rather based on a very strong criticism (which I agree with) of the current incumbents in government - the current congressional reps who are not upholding their oaths of office. Your major thrust is thus about impeachment. And if your major thrust is about impeachment I ask you is it really enough to merely "believe" rather than to KNOW and to be able to DEMOSTRATE that USING PUBLICLY AVAILABLE DOCUMENTS AND EVIDENCE that "Bush and Cheney have committed impeachable offences". There is another group that I as a non-American am watching hopefully that are also activists for the good causes. The CCR with Michael Ratner that are challenging the Bush admin in the Supreme Court today (or tomorrow US time). These folks must be assembling the evidence for their cases as they have had some victories in the SCOTUS already. Perhaps the CCR route, the challenging the Bushies in the court route, might be another way of being an activist as well as or alternatively to running for office. Perhaps. But my real point is that your new broomers will probably need to have more than mere belief in order to make the case to people who might vote for you on the policy of impeaching Bush and Cheney. I confess I have problems with mere belief as a basis for action including ethically oriented action. I think Bush and Tony Blair (and John Howard) I am not so sure about Cheney make too many decisions on the basis of mere belief and that that has been part of the problem. Bush especially it seems believes as a substitute for thinking and for making sound judgements after doing his homework and as a substitute for understanding what a consitution is and what the concept of the secular rule of law is. by

change is needed If you're not in the US, you don't know what it FEELS like to live with the ever increasing threats of nuclear war and fascism. You don't understand the frustration of watching our elected representatives betray us over and over. I got tired of reacting, so started the New Broom Coalition to be proactive, and to provide a legal channel for the people's discontent. Within 2 days, Kucinich brought HR 333 to a floor vote, and the full House sent it to Judiciary. Now the Bushies have stepped way back from their threats to attack Iran. You may think this is coincidence, but I believe NBC has already shifted the energy field in favor of We the People, and will continue to do so. We are in a time of radical change- so far it's been pretty negative. I'm hoping we can ride the current and steer toward a more positive outcome. Peace, Carol by
