This letter speaks to the concern that the People's Summit concluded without a clear principle of intent to coalesce around to provide focus and direction for the hoped for movement. This failure was noted in the Occupy Wall Street Movement also and that effort faded, lost energy for this reason.
During the Occupy movement I noted the absence of a coalescing principle was because the system being challenged is really fascism which is so insidious, so pervasive, so everywhere in our lives it is not possible to select out a way forward within it that makes any sense. We can hardly expect people, protesters, to pull out one thread from the fabric of the American Fascist State and think 'that' is the answer, is meaningful. Again, this is why, I believe, the Occupy Movement and the People's Summit (all comprised of capable, intelligent souls) could not give voice to a clear path to a better future.
It is apparent, therefore, that within the existant fascist state there are no footholds, no leverage points to provide means for a shift to a better future for ourselves and the planet. What I suggest is that this better future be created out of whole cloth, a new paradigm of existence of our own making and not imposed from without--this an unprecedented and transcendent concept. It is important to understand that never in the history of human self-aware existence has there been a time when the powerful few have not controlled the many--some 300,000 years. Some of this is due to the power of the few but today the reason lies with the many. It is certainly true that the new paradigm does not exist and has never existed because we the many have not had the capacity, the intellectual and spiritual evolvement to truly choose responsibility for our collective future. It is quite uncertain if today we are sufficiently evolved to create that better future for ourselves and the planet if we choose to do that or even that we would make that choice--this is the real question raised here.
The new paradigm for a better future does not now exist, however, if we choose to create it the principle guiding its vision must be that all who contribute to help make manifest this reality, its shape and form, must intend that it be 'for the highest and best good for all concerned and the planet'. This is the transcendent thinking and state of being that needs to underpin the new paradigm and which has been absent for 300,000 years.
If the notion of creating a future of our own that meets real standards of decency sounds far-fetched and outlandish then 300,000 years of evolving consciousness is not long enough--sadly the planet cannot wait.
