When Bush opened his mouth to speak I shouted "Defend the Constitution, Impeach Bush!" I repeated that several times, as people nearby knocked me over, cops handcuffed me, people gave me smiles and thumbs up signs. They threw me out and a couple of more defenders of our Constitution behind me, and then a few more, and then a few more. The handcuffed citizens who'd done their duty kept comign down the hill. They did not arrest us but did give us a ride down the mountain where we joined a crowd of protesters in the road who greeted Bush's limo coming and going.

Why did we do this? Here's why:

You see, when you issued clear instructions, they should have rushed up the hill to handcuff the real criminal, George Bush. Instead, once again, they got the wrong guy.

Believe that less government is good government, government cannot solve anyone's personal problems, the government taking money from one group of people and giving it to another group of people is a crime, and that people should take responsibility for their own lives.

Disgusting Display of Aberrant Behavior

There is a time and place for everything.

If I showed up at your daughter's wedding and stood up with some salacious pictures of your wife and yelled that your daughter was a whore, would that be appropriate?

If I stood up at your son's graduation and began yelling about his drug use and being gay or straight would that be appropriate?

If I showed up at your funeral and passed out leaflets to your family showing that your were guilty of child abuse and selling child porn, would that be appropriate?

The President of the US represents everyone in this country whether you agree with his politics or actions or not and deserves a modicum of respect because of the office he represents if anything else. There are plenty of places that people who disagree with his actions or policies can protest that do not interrupt public ceremonies that are for everyone, Republican or Democrat. You are abusing your rights by taking advantage of the situation where the President is speaking. He has a right to freedom of speech just as you do.

Do not make yourself out to be some kind of hero. You are not.

There's a problem with this president, too.

George W. Bush, and the rest of his administration do not represent all Americans, nor do they represent a simple majority. They use American blood, labor and treasure to represent a small and insular group of international petroleum interests that I don't believe can even be characterized as being American, themselves.

When one combines that observation with the methods by which he was installed as president (Supreme Court fiat in the 2000 election and massive election fraud in both 2000 and 2004) then he becomes even less a president for all the American People. George W. Bush is, in fact, an illegitimate usurper and criminal.

As such, any disrespect that is directed toward him has nothing to do with the office of President of the United States.

You can't imagine how refreshing it is...

to hear the far right foolishly accusing Obama of radical liberalism at the same time that the left is castigating him for his rightward swing. It demonstrates how observer effects can so easily lead one to the incorrect conclusion. Either that or instead of looking at what is going on and thinking about what you believe, you drank the goose stepper's koolaid and it transformed you into their pet parrot.

In any event, the Black Panthers, regerdless of what you think of their methods, certainly had legitimate complaints to be redressed. To support the right without being a direct corporatist beneficiary of their policies is tantamount to keeping a rolodex of the neighborhood burglers and inviting some over each night to rip you off. If you think tax policy is the only way to transfer wealth, you truly are a babe in the woods.
