This year, I don't want to buy crap from box stores to give for presents.

I don't want to give money to a commercial, consumer system that has been designed to break down community, isolate people.

I don't want to buy products designed in Silicon Valley but manufactured by Chinese factory workers who have an incredibly high suicide rate.

I want to give gifts that build community and connection, that support people, not corporations, that are ecologically sound.

In the past, I've given tickets to concerts. This year, I'll be giving some museum tickets, but I'm hoping YOU will have some ideas, that this article will spur a lot of suggestions on ways to give gifts that are not bought at box stores or even online.

So... what are you giving that's not out of the "box."

The nice thing about a gift bag, is you can put a note in it, not necessarily a "thing."
