Mr. Kall described the situation exactly in his OpEdNews article, "What to Blame for and Who's To Blame: Excoriate the DNC". I hate to be alarming but the worst is still to come.
Like everyone else, I have been reading and watching all the MSM pundits spew their learned BS; I know better, but broke my rule and watched anyway following the election coverage all night.. While I am sure many OpEdNews readers have thought the same as me, I have not heard or seen anything describing the real problem aired or in print.
I have seen some of the "SHOULDS" which are like the advice that one SHOULD buy low and sell high or saying that if in prison surrounded by 100 foot barbed wire and hundreds of guards that we SHOULD escape. Both true and completely unrealistic. I will summarize the problem as I see it. No, I don't have an answer now but without reality we never will find a way. So please don't jump on me.
Unless Republicans have suddenly become benevolent, educated, intelligent and truly patriotic we have to assume they will act as they have in the past, but now with no opposition.
We talk about changing abortion laws, relaxing regulations on the moneyed elite, ignoring climate change, removing help for healthcare, education, the elderly, the disabled, the poor, all terrible and all ruinous to the USA.
What actually terrifies me is they now can do what they have tried but with limited success, to stop most but the rich white Republicans from voting, denying education to the non-rich, creating a theocratic primary education system; moving more of your taxes to the already rich, cut or eradicate minimum wage, dismantle ACA and very possibly Medicare, Medicaid, social security, ending abortions totally, stopping birth control, ignore many of the amendments, especially the First,the Fourth and the Fifth. Dismantle everything related to climare and clean energy. Again all terrible but still not the worst. The worst is their ability to ensure there will be no turning back.
The part not mentioned is conservative zeal to abuse the power to gerrymander, increase voter suppression, militarize police, ignore all of posse commitatus and enact laws and executive orders that suppress everyday rights and laws. Passports will not be available except to the chosen few.The people are ignored now but without checks and balances it will be infinitely worse. If you are not a white Republican fear for your life. Rev. Niemoller's poem will have new significance for all of us!
Conservatives will have the tools to exclude any canditate but theirs to run and hold office; sound familiar? They did this in the old USSR. With all the power of the Exectuive office, the Senate, The House and the Court, democracy that was hanging by a thread will be completely gone. There will be absolutely no way to ever have any but a conservative in any office. There also will be no way to change this system.
