President-elect Barack Obama has a website asking us what issues we care about most, and giving us the opportunity to vote.  The site says: "90,282 people have submitted 64,854 questions and cast 3,991,968 votes...but we want to know what you think." http://change.gov/page/content/openforquestions20081229/

Asking for a special prosecutor for the gravest crimes of the Bush/Cheney administration is now NUMBER ONE on the site, ahead of all other questions in all categories.  What this means is that Obama will now have to ANSWER this question on his official site, just as if he had accepted this question at a real press conference.

Torture is a violation of the Geneva Convention, an international  treaty which the US has signed and ratified.  This makes it the supreme law of the land, and the members of the Executive Branch are obliged to obey the law.  Bob Fertik wrote the question at http://change.gov, asking the incoming Attorney General, Eric Holder, to appoint a special prosecutor, preferably Patrick Fitzgerald. The prosecutor would investigate Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the gang for violating the Geneva Convention.

Many of us believe that this country will not be restored morally until the officials who have disgraced, defiled and corrupted our government are brought to justice.  Since several of them have publicly confessed to torture, this particular crime is easy to prosecute.

At this moment, 19,747 have voted for Bob Fertik's question.  Let's make it 100,000.  If you have not voted already, the easiest way to find the question is:

1. Sign in at
http://change.gov/openforquestions and remember you
have to set up a login for yourself at that site to vote

2. Click on "Additional Issues" under "Pick a Topic" on the left

3. The special prosecutor question started by "Bob Fertik" should be
the one leading the top of that section.

4. Look right for the checkbox, mouseover it so it goes from white to
dark, then click to cast your vote

Please cast your vote as soon as possible, as the voting may close at
any time.

And we're going to keep the heat on in every other possible way, just stay tuned.
