We're moving from nation states to multi-national corporations. Corporations go where they can produce as cheaply as possible, to maximise profits. They don't need the American worker anymore. They cost too much.
So, what do we do? Do we get left behind? Do we become servants/slaves? Our government is supposed to protect the American People. The government is supposed to regulate those who would otherwise abuse the people. The government is supposed to promote the general welfare of the people. The government is supposed to promote the common good. But our government has been bought and paid for. It is corrupt. And many of those running it are corrupt. They do not care about the American people. They have no real allegiance to the nation or the people. They, and the corporations who pay them, are only interested in Globalization, profit, and power. If we do not stop them, and force the corporations, and their government lackeys, to come home and work out a way to bring the American People along with them, then we will end up being a second class nation, with a population of poor servants/slaves, owned by others.
The Chinese have found a way to have Capitalism without Democracy. The rich, Right Wing, corporate types in our country would love to get rid of Democracy like the Chinese. They scream about Communism, and wave the American flag, but, in reality, they would love to turn the US into a one-party state; a Republican,Tea Party State. They want a free hand to do what the Communist party is doing in China.
We must start exercising our Democracy before we lose it. We must not let anyone take it from us. Our Constitution is still a good tool, if we get the money, that has clog the gears of our Constitution, out of it!
And don't expect Obama to fix it for us. He can only do so much without our support and encouragement. We must hold him from behind, and push him forward. He is only supposed to be our servant. WE must do the work. WE are the people. It is up to us to make sure he and others do what we want them to. He seems to be asking us to do just that. And If he knows that we have his back - or that we will not have his back unless he moves forward for us - then he will act.
WE have let others take our democracy from us. WE have allowed ourselves to be lulled into passivity. WE must wake up and get to work now! WE must take, and carry, the torch that Abraham Lincoln fought so hard to protect and preserve - the torch of a GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE - so that it WILL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH!
