For OpEdNews: Yvonne - Writer My skin, a different color than yours I have a plan for the future You mistrust me I know
Do you think I mean you harm
If you would just listen a moment
Relax and feel free to disarm
I have this picture in my head
Allow me to reveal it to you
I will not serve you a burning bed
I have done you wrong in the past
I will reach out my hand
Take it, this union can last
I mean you and your family no harm
A different story has been told
See the picture I have for our future
And allow me to help it unfold
With all of the fighting and bad talk
Are you scared of me after the years
Do you look at me as the bad guy
Do you blame me for all of your fears
I will not harm you, know I care
Walk with me to this new place
We can abandon the old days
I will wipe the tears from your face
Remember I mean you no harm
I have a plan to fix this mess
I will try if you allow me to
But with my freckled skin, I confess
My skin is different than yours
I know we're all the same inside
Please trust me and let me
Ultimately you have to decide
You can leave behind the disgrace
God can help us truly be one
I first need your trust
And belief in his savior son
He came with a mission also
They made him die for his way
I am not trying to fill his shoes
Though his teachings guide me every day
I will not betray your trust
Do not fear my future for you
But you see my hands are tied
If I am not able to get through
