Article: US vs S&P: It's About Time, But...

You will likely recall that our President lowered his office into the S&P ratings garbage by stalwartly proclaiming that our nation "...has been and always will be a Triple A country."

Then this morning (NY Times, 8/18/11) we get this:

..."The Justice Department is investigating whether the nation's largest credit ratings agency, Standard & Poor's, improperly rated dozens of mortgage securities in the years leading up to the financial crisis, according to two people interviewed by the government and another briefed on such interviews.

..."The investigation into Standard & Poor's began before the company cut the United States' AAA credit rating this month..."

Hmmm..."before"...Really? That's hardly reassuring. Why not during the YEARS when S&P was handing out Triple A's to the exploitive Mortgageteers and their partners-in-crime Banksters whose alumni now serve as our President's highest financial/economic advisors, including the Secretary of the Treasury and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve?

Now with the economy of the United States being compared with the Great Depression of the 1930's and with no intelligent or decent government program to address such as unemployment, those very same Banksters and many of their compadres-in-crime Mortgageteers draw record "performance" bonuses ranging well into eight-figures, while the too-criminal-to-hide guys get nine-figure "separation settlements."

And now we're going to "investigate"? Any bets on how many of these economic gangsters go to jail?

"Something is rotten.." and it aint..."in the state of Denmark."

If this is an example of the refuge in governance we're to receive as per those who insist upon the "lesser-evil" choice in 2012 -- then our country is as doomed as was Shakespeare's prince.

And the question persists: Why does not, and when will the American electorate summon the intelligence, integrity and courage to stand up and demand, not a "lesser-evil choice," but a DECENT choice in their selection of our president and the world's chief war and peace maker?
