To the National Organization for Marriage: Quit your bitching!

In watching the anti-same-sex marriage ad called “The Gathering Storm”, the consistent word heard throughout it was “I”.  Personally, I think this ad is selfish and if we are going to speak of freedom, the same freedoms must apply to GAY and lesbian couples who wish to wed in this land of liberty.  With the divorce rate for straight marriages at 50%, I wish them well.  Same-sex marriages may hold the key to wedded bliss.

Right now, we are all living in a storm so fierce when families within this nation are being foreclosed upon.  They are living this storm.  The other day, I produced my own YouTube.com feed attacking Fox and Rupert Murdoch citing that a sheriff’s car may be en-route to someone’s home to foreclose upon them.  A family waiting for such an eviction notice from a bank is their gathering storm.

We are living in a fierce storm that has caused the loss of 4 million jobs and the health insurance that went along with them.  As it stands, close to 50 million in this country still do not have health insurance and if they are a parent, their child’s nasty cough accompanied with a high fever is their gathering storm.

This morning, I read a truly horrifying story where a Filipino girl, 11,hung herself because she was poor. Her real life storm gathered around her leading up to the day she hung herself.  In this report you will read, "A neighbour said of them: "The Amper family are always being discriminated against. They're poor, the kids are dirty and the other kids don't want to play with them. Because they're very poor, they've been rejected by their neighbours."

Her only wish was for a new pair of shoes and jobs for her parents and then she slipped the noose around her neck and killed herself.

Just this past week, Italy suffered a devastating earthquake whose death count now stands at 289.  Reuters in their reporting of this story wrote, “Small white caskets with the bodies of children lay on their parents' coffins, some with a favorite toy placed on top. The youngest was a five-month-old boy, killed with his mother.” Their gathering storm came and went killing so many innocent victims.  They like the Filipino girl above no longer have freedom or liberty for that matter because they are DEAD!

At this very moment, a ship’s captain is being held by Somali pirates.  His gathering storm is one that he is still living in and where he has no such freedoms.  The AFP has reported, that he tried to escape, only to be recaptured. They wrote, “Captain Richard Phillips jumped into the water during the night and tried to swim towards the nearby US destroyer, the USS Bainbridge, but pirates jumped in and recaptured him,” The only liberty I foresee him wishing it to actually have liberty and not being held captive.

We still have two wars being fought that are killing our soldiers as well as innocent victims of war often known to us as collateral damage.  All of them no longer know freedom and liberty because they are also DEAD!

In fact, the AP has now reported, “A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden truck into a sandbagged wall surrounding a police headquarters in northern Iraq on Friday, killing five American soldiers and two Iraqi policemen in the single deadliest attack against U.S. forces in more than a year,”

Those soldiers have families and en-route to their homes is a gathering storm where they will get that dreaded knock on the door telling them their loved one will not be coming home alive.

When I read the horrific story where that innocent 11 year-old child hung herself, I wrote this on Twitter.com, “Filipino girl, 11, hangs herself because of her family’s poverty…Anyone feel like bitching?”

So, excuse me, if I do not hear your pleas to those who produced that venomous anti-same-sex marriage commercial, because, in life you are all missing the far bigger picture.  There is actual suffering going on around us all which has enveloped so many innocents and you dare, you dare to complain because some people want to find their own patch of happiness in this world?  God bless these couples in their life’s journey to find such happiness.

To the National Organization for Marriage, you are beyond contempt for airing such a selfish commercial.  In reading of so much misery in this country and the world for that matter, you feel you have the right to bitch?  People are dying and you think your perceived problem is larger and more important than theirs?  Go tell it to someone who cares, because we who care for humanities sake certainly do not.  So, quit your bitching.
