Would it not be prudent -- the celebration notwithstanding -- to pause for a few questions?
.
Right after the party, will it be okay to stop the war?
.
Or -- as any really good poker player might have it -- will we need to "double-down" our bet, that is the endeavor to defend democracy, wherever in the world, from those evil forces dedicated to destroy Christianity, Judaism, Civilization, and Humanity?  (Hey, in for one million slaughtered -- Why would we not go for two?)
.
And would those very same evil Islamists be tempted to use this as an excuse also to "double-down"?
.
And in anticipation of the increased terrorism surely to follow, would it not be prudent to tighten up our airport security?  How can we not now insist that all passengers strip naked before entering an airport, remain so throughout their flight, and until they are signed for by their parents, children or documented business associate or resort agent at their destination?
.
And are not all other security precautions now justified?  For example, live government monitoring of all phone conversations, pre-clearance of all email transmissions?  Identity chips discreetly buried in citizen foreheads? Internment of all non-citizens?  Searches at all highway entrances?  Internal passports for travel beyond one's home?  Microphones required under all cocktail bars, motel rooms, and such, where terrorists are likely to gather?
.
And not to exhume "old history," but how can this not now cow those cynical Americans who persist upon an explanation for the cause of Building Number 7's collapse -- surely a case of Number 7's sympathy for its sister towers!
.
And now, most eminently important:  How will this all affect the financial markets, the pricing and the futures trading in oil, precious metals like lithium, and of course corn, pork bellies and such?  And why should not the spike in slaughter of humans not benefit those who prudently invested in its outcomes?
.
But one more and final question:  Can there be -- with now the reprisals from all sides, with all the slaughter now to follow, with all the lofty justifications, all the flag waving, sermons and evocations of the Founding Fathers, the Almighty, and such -- can there be, will we be spared, after ten years of slaughter and now more to follow, more of the bottomless plethora of propaganda that accompanies this disgrace to our future history and to any genuine respect for the Almighty?

Rafe Pilgrim, after "a life largely wasted on hard honest work," found himself a jungle of turkey oak, scrub pine and giant palmettos up a dirt road running east of Crystal River, Florida, which neither school busses nor the U.S. Postal Service dare (more...)
