BlackHole by chrocodiles.blogspot.com

This nation, together with its wealth and resources, can be thought of as a collapsing star that cannot withstand that immense, relentless gravitational force that is sucking it into a massive black hole; into the deep darkness of endless war.

As the several simultaneous wars rapidly continue to drain America's treasury and contribute to its massive and growing national deficit, the overriding question is this: how in the world are the promoters and facilitators of perpetual war going to find the additional hundreds of billions of dollars needed to sustain them? Where will they find the necessary funding when it appears that our national bank is nearly empty?

Here are the areas that are ripe for picking, if the operators of the war machinery are given free rein and not stopped. They will target those governmental programs that benefit the American people; they will make it clear that none of these programs are sacred and here is what they are entirely capable of doing:

Eliminate or privatize Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Continue to lay off teachers, police, and firefighters.

Discontinue all government programs for Infrastructure repair and rebuilding

Shut down the Environmental Protection Agency; do away with important rules and regulations covering oil drilling, coal mining, extracting natural gas and other energy production.

Eliminate all regulation and oversight of Wall Street and the financial sector; let the banks, lenders and stock brokers govern themselves.

Shut down the Department of Education; eliminate Pell Grants, and student loan programs.

Eliminate programs to help seniors with the costs of heating.

Discontinue the Food Stamp Program; let those in poverty fend for themselves.

Cancel all programs that provide care for the elderly, the poor, and the physically and mentally disabled.

Eliminate all programs for the development of alternate sources of energy involving solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen, and biofuels.

Cancel all programs covering unemployment benefits.

This is not an exaggeration; many of these programs and others could be decimated or destroyed if America continues in the current direction by which the wealth of this nation is being sucked into the black hole of war. We need to think very deeply about how this war machine is taking America ever closer to national bankruptcy and about how this eventuality can be prevented.
