Day252/Oct1st/Thursday: The President, upon conclusion of the P5+1 meeting regarding Iran, addressed concerns about the Iranian nuclear program in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House. Iran agreed to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency inspect the Iranian nuclear plant in Qom within 2 weeks and that most of Iran's enriched Uranium will be exported to France and Russia for reprossessing, then returned to Iran for medical use. The President delivered remarks at a fundraiser for the Democratic Governors Association at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington D.C. Transcript


The President met with United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office of the White House.

The President met with United States Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner in the Oval Office.

The President signed an Executive Order that prohibits federal employees from text messaging while driving federal government owned, leased, rented vehicles, and even personal vehicles while on official government business. Source

In the evening, the President traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark in an attempt to convince the International Olympic Committee to designate Chicago, Illinois for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The President sent these nominations to the United States Senate:

Carolyn W. Colvin, of Maryland, to be Deputy Commissioner of Social Security for the term expiring January 19, 2013

Christine H. Fox, of Virginia, to be Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation, Department of Defense. (New Position)

Roszell Hunter, of Virginia, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States for a term expiring January 20, 2013

Sara Manzano-Diaz, of Pennsylvania, to be Director of the Women's Bureau, Department of Labor
