GOP Successfully Screwing The American Taxpayer!

Big oil, wealthy corporations and the GOP enjoy sharing the same bed. It is a living arrangement that has been successful and satisfying for all three, and with the GOP's unanimous opposition to proposals that would end tax breaks enjoyed by big oil, the marriage is once again consummated. In many cases, the largest of corporations pay no taxes; in others, these corporations pay no taxes and receive bonuses, in the form of rebates. Every effort to rein in the power of the wealthiest corporations has and will continue to fail, as long as the happy threesome share a bed. It is not enough that the 5 biggest oil companies reported a record 2011 first quarter $30 Billion dollar profit, it is not enough that those profits are up 38% from last year, it is not enough that gas prices are close to $4 dollars a gallon, these companies are insatiable, and Republicans are willing to satisfy their needs. Any efforts to reduce revenue-crippling, taxpayer-funded subsidies must be denied. The GOP will guarantee that! The continued tax benefits, loopholes and subsidies enjoyed by wealthy corporations will allow this Caligula-inspired orgy to continue indefinitely.

In addition to votes to continue oil subsidies and tax breaks, the GOP has also tried to weaken ( kill ) the Dodd Franks Banking bill that provides the most limited of consumer protections. The GOP blocked efforts to name Elizabeth Warren as head of the watchdog committee, and in fact, told President Obama that he may as well just face facts; they will not approve anyone that he appoints to head the agency. Even if President Obama allows them to completely gut the consumer protection agency, they will still not cooperate. This is in line with the depraved GOP theory that protection for anyone but themselves and their partners is not the issue. While citizens are not permitted protections; Congress and big business must be protected. Thought they would be more concerned about consumers? Come on! They are the GOP!

The Only Jobs The GOP Gives Are...

Congressional GOP elected representatives, long known for stroking corporate heads, are willing to give the largest and wealthiest of corporations anything they desire. Special Attention? The GOP is so busy servicing the wealthy, they have nothing left for the people of America. They have sold themselves and this country many times over. The only time they do not suffer from impotency is when they are in bed with the corporations or wealthy special interests. While they have voted against every jobs bill presented in the latest Congressional session, they ARE doing jobs for special interests.

While they continue to fight gay marriage, they defend their own marriage to special interests and the wealthy. Talk about unholy! In spite of GOP trash talk and unsupported assertions, gay marriage does not threaten the American family, but the marriage between legislators, big oil and wealthy corporations threatens EVERY single American family.

State GOP Leaders Happy To Stroke The Wealthy!

GOP Governors are doing their part, as well! Never able to sit on the edge of the bed and just watch the fun, Republican governors are also stroking the heads of corporations! They have joined this unholy union by offering additional tax benefits and tax cuts to the wealthiest of their 'clients'. As part of their 'financial fix' budgets, they have sold out the interests of their middle income and poverty level citizenry; all in an effort to pleasure their wealthiest 'clients'. Why? Because those 'clients' pay them via campaign contributions. Those 'clients' also contribute to Political Action Committees (PAC's) that produce and pay for all of those ads that will serve to keep them in office. None of this is one-sided. Every orgy participant comes away from the encounter equally pleasured and satisifed.

Of course, this GOP prostitution is not a victimless crime. The victims are the poor, the elderly, the disabled, the children and anyone else who has a less than even playing field. The rewards to the rich come at the expense of education for kids, health care to low income residents, food programs for the children and others who are in need, employment benefits for the unemployed. And if you are a senior, these party animals will tax your pensions. Not rich? Not a wealthy corporation? Well, then you are an uninvited guest and are not welcome at this party!

The GOP Financial Fix Is In! States That Have Jumped Onto The Mattress Or Teasing The GOP G-Spots!

Of course, the first and most widely publicized tax cuts to the wealthy have come from Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker. Walker's budget fix provided $147 million dollars in tax cuts to wealthy businesses. When you grant favors to your 'clients', that money has to be made up from other sources. He cut the pay and benefits for public sector employees and he cut education in the state by millions. He has fought to destroy collective bargaining in the state where collective bargaining began. Parts of his 'financial fix' include selling the state's power plants to the private energy industry. Are the Koch Brothers standing at the head of the line to buy those utilities? He has additionally cut the earned income tax credit to low income wage earners, has cut Badger Care, the state's Medicaid program that provides health care to the poor, and is even seeking to privatize the state's food stamp program. Many more cuts to the middle class and low income residents of the state are now just coming to light. It is a typical GOP scandal! It just doesn't involve hiding in a bathroom stall or writing lewd emails to pages and interns.

Second on the mattress is Michigan's GOP Governor, Rick Snyder. He not only cut taxes for big business by a whopping $1.8 Billion dollars, he has gone many steps further. He has seized control from local governments and schools, and will sell off assets to anyone he chooses. This authority was granted to him under the Emergency Managers Act. Even though Wisconsin's Walker was first on the train (whoops! a train is something different than a menage a trois, right?), Michigan's Snyder didn't mind being second, and he hasn't been sloppy. His legislative efforts have been unmatched! He has found and gently teased all of the GOP G-spots! Tax cuts to the wealthy, crippling collective bargaining, tax increases to the poor and elderly, cuts to health care for the poor, cuts to education, Snyder's cronies have even cut aid to his states' orphans and suggested that foster kids in the state buy their clothes only at second hand stores! Can't get a much better performance than that!

From the Detroit News, "State Rep. Lisa Howze, D-Detroit, called the proposal the largest tax hike in decades."Today it became clear that 'Jobs' is not Job No. 1 for Republicans," she said in a statement. "I'm shocked and appalled that they are supportive of a nearly $2 billion transfer of wealth from our most vulnerable to big business without a guarantee of a single job being created."

Florida's Governor, Rick Scott, has managed to become a player in this GOP debauchery. He is a new player at the game of government. Prior to becoming part of this ragbag of obscene clowns, Scott was busy at the helm of a private corporation that stole hundreds of millions of dollars from the government. Whew! He jumped off that roller coaster just in time! The company he owned paid $1.7 BILLION dollars in fines to the federal government and Scott walked away "scott free" as they say. Oh! But he did walk away as a mega multi-millionaire and now, as the new governor of Florida, who is he screwing? The very same people that his company victimized: Senior Citizens! Scott, throughout his career, has always like being on top. It is no different now. He is demonstrating his loyalty to GOP thieves by taxing senior citizens and their pensions. His budget will slash education by $1.35 BILLION dollars and he was breathing heavy, so ready to sign a bill that decreased unemployment benfits. Not enough? The centerpiece of the governor's budget was a $1.5 BILLION dollar tax cut to big business. His own legislature balked at that and compromised at a lesser amount. But you cannot blame Scott for his legislature's vascillation . He has been busy fighting for his position on the mattress by signing into law a bill that requires every single applicant for aid of any type to submit to drug testing. The best thing about that new law is that the applicant has to foot the bill for the drug screening! Or just maybe, that is the second best thing; Scott owns a company that does drug testing. That is the best part! No, perhaps the best part is that Solantic, Scott's company, is already facing fraud investigations by the federal government!

The fourth big boy on the mattress made for kings is Ohio's Republican Governor, John Kasich. Many Ohioans wish that their governor would run for President; not because they like him, but because they want him out of the state. Why? In his zealous quest to bring home the gold for big business, Kasich has taken the idea of destroying collective bargaining to new heights. Not only has he jumped on the GOP mattress in all of the normal ways, he has shown that he is far more creative than other GOP leaders. Kasich included a controversial clause that would eliminate the right of public safety employees to negotiate safety equipment. The police are worried about their bullet proof vests and the firefighters are concerned about the quality of their own protective clothing. Kasich's supporters say he would never compromise the quality of protective clothing. Of course he wouldn't do that! If not, why include the clause? Just a sign of Kasich's creativity? The same man who called a cop an idiot for giving him a ticket would never seek to provide lower quality vests for his state's highly respected police officers.

In addition to the now standard multi-million dollar tax cuts to big business and attacks on low income residents, Kasich has decided that he will sell the state's toll highways to private corporations, sell off the state-run, profit-generating, wholesale liquor sales program to private companies and privatize six prisons. The interesting portion of the prison sales clause is that the prisons will enjoy a tax exempt status. To pay for these things, Kasich is cutting education and health care to the poor, will allow drilling for energy in state parks and at the same time, remove environmental protection laws that might regulate those drilling sites. Abortion laws are being debated in Ohio, as in the other GOP states. Kasich defends his belief that abortion should be outlawed and pushed some of the most extreme abortion-limiting regulations in the country.

Without a doubt, the great white hope of the GOP has been the rude, in your face Chris Christie, of New Jersey. Never the one to waste time on niceties, he has done just as much damage to education and unions! The only thing surprising about this is that Christie accomplished these things with the assistance of a Democrat-controlled legislature. Now that the Democrats realize that Christie lied to them about compromises he would accept, they have decided that they are going to fight back. Fights are usually better waged during the battle, not when it is over, but Democrats are notoriously easy; falling for the same empty lines, over and over and over again. Pry a Democrat with a little schmoozing and some empty promises, and they will allow themselves to be taken advantage of every single time.

Other Players, More GOP Love For Big Business!

The GOP lovefest doesn't just include the players highlighted above. There are more, far too many more to highlight all the details. So, let's just mention a few additional players and some key legislation in their states:

  • Maine's GOP Governor LePage has reduced taxes paid by the wealthy by hundreds of millions of dollars. He has also, most notably, removed child labor protection laws in the state.
  • Oklahoma's GOP Mary Fallin, has signed legislation destroying collective bargaining in the state. She has also passed tax cuts that will benefit business and the wealthy.
  • Texas GOP Governor Rick Perry, the secessionist proponent, said in his inauguration speech: "The frail, the young, the elderly on fixed incomes, those in situations of abuse and neglect, people whose needs are greater than the resources at their disposal -- they can count on the people of Texas to be there for them." But, in reality, Perry is intent on cutting those protections. His two-year $158.7 billion spending outline, cuts funding to state social services programs by as much as 30 percent. That way, he can preserve tax cuts to business. Even more than that, Perry is cutting $10 Billion dollars from education. His state claims great strides in bringing jobs to the state of Texas, but those jobs are mostly minimum wage jobs. Perry is reportedly even trying to sell almost every toll road in the state to foreign companies.
  • South Dakota's GOP Governor Dennis Daugaard, has signed into law an anti-abortion bill that will create so many obstacles, it will effectively make abortion illegal in the state.
  • Mitch Daniels, GOP Governor of Indiana, is the first governor to defund Planned Parenthood. Daniels has also recently slashed corporate taxes by $80 Million dollars a year.

These governors, are by no means alone. If your state has a Republican governor, or you have a Republican majority in your statehouse, you, too, are becoming a victim of the GOP slash and burn philosophy of government. They all have the following agenda items on the horizon:

  • Destroy public sector unions and the right to collectively bargain.
  • Decrease taxes for business, wealthy constituents and big oil.
  • Pay for those tax cuts with slashes to education, Medicaid programs, services to the elderly and poor, and women's health.
  • Privatize and sell state-controlled or owned properties. Many are selling state-owned highways to foreign companies.
  • End environmental controls.
  • Limit access to voting, with the limiting directed at the young, poor, elderly and disabled.
  • Advocate for the overturn of Roe VS Wade and vote against any equality protection for the LGBT community.
  • Cut education funding.
