Mario Savio has earned the respect of the new Occupy Sproul Plaza protesters
By Thursday afternoon, students at Occupy Sproul Plaza were paying homage to an earlier Berkeley student protester, Mario Savio, by displaying an enlarged copy of him making his historic 1964 speech in the same area of the campus. Here a new protester (who says he spend early Thursday in jail) holds the photo of Savio up in close proximity to the place where the newsphoto was taken almost 50 years ago.
The Free Speech Movement will honor Savio Tuesday night with a talk by Robert Reich.
