Somebody call the Vatican; there is a new candidate for sainthood and he has risen from the sacred ground of ... Fox News?
Bill "Tiller the Killer" O'Reilly appeared on rival network CBS to give an interview on the divine inspiration behind his latest "history" book, "Killing Jesus." Bill claims the tome was given to him by the Almighty Himself.
Ready for the Gospel According to Bill?
"All of the ideas come to me in the middle of the night, and one night, I just woke up and it went, 'Killing Jesus,'" O'Reilly said in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" on Saturday.
"And I believe -- because I'm a Catholic -- that comes from the Holy Spirit. My inspiration comes from that. And so I wrote Killing Jesus because I think I was directed to write that."
O'Reilly is certainly living testament to the prosperity gospel, if nothing else. The Fox "News" holy warrior and his co-author received a $10 million advance for this work, and they didn't even have to chisel it into stone tablets.
Historically, whenever the Holy Spirit speaks to Republicans, bad things result. House Republicans held a prayer meeting to elect a House Speaker, and thus John Boehner was so anointed. When the Lord spoke to Dubya, He told him to invade Iraq. Maybe we should be grateful the only message He gave to Bill was "get thee to a publisher."
Our book recommendation? Read the book, then take a shower. Hey, I wonder if the book comes with a loofah? Or was it a falafel? mmmmmmmnnnn... sacri-licious
