Can this be what my Democrat friends expected from their Messiah? Can this be what they will accept?
This is beyond stupidity and madness. This is a sinister extension of the greed and war mongering and power lusting machinations of a rotten government -- yes, ours.
The answer to Afghanistan is simple: Leave it to the Afghanis. Yes, there will be disorder and a bloody struggle, the requisite processes any people go through to ultimately gain the government it deserves. Decent government cannot be gifted to the Afghanis by God or by us -- it must be earned by its own citizens. By staying in Afghanistan and escalating our forces we delay that process with ultimately greater casualties for all parties, most especially ours.
As for our decent people, the choice is a clear one: No additional troops to Afghanistan, bring the incumbents home now, and no more pseudo-strategic bullshit.
