How soon we forget… or at least so hopes the McCain campaign.  The PA GOP is running an attack ad that raises the specter of Rev. Jeremiah Wright passionately denouncing the US from the pulpit. For thirty seconds, we are reminded without any context that this angry black man was Obama’s pastor for 20 years.

Many will recall that when this sort of attack surfaced earlier in the campaign, Obama responded with his widely celebrated and acclaimed speech on race. It demonstrated that not only is the man not tainted by the fulminations of Wright, but that he transformed the embarrassment into an opportunity to call forth our better angels. Now that is the kind of leadership we need.

Listen to that speech, and/or read it here: (Obama Speech on Race 3/08).

Now, turn on your BS meter and watch the McCain attack ad – if your BS meter is working you should hear a deafening alarm.
