What freedom! What exhilaration! What a sense of following your BLISS!
This video is 3 minutes and 45 seconds of fantastic vicarious ECSTACY!
Watching it is a fabulous way to start the day - I am now watching it for the fifth time, still screaming out loud, oh my god! OH MY GOD!
Flying has been the dream immemorial, from the mythological Daedalus and Icarus, to da Vinci, Earhart and Lindbergh.
Wingsuit flyer, Loic Jean-Albert, known as the Flying Dude of YouTube fame, has made over 11,000 jumps.
Jean-Albert’s website notes:
Human flight is a universal dream. Nowadays people are able to fly fast and high in airplanes. In 1954, Leo Valentin said, “The airplane is not a man in the sky, it is the machine in the sky.
In 1956, Valentin died trying, but his dream lives on in flyers like Loic.
From Jean-Albert’s site:
A wingsuit is made of two layers of fabric that inflate during flight. The airflow around the suit creates a lift allowing the skydiver to fly instead of fall. The only hard structure is the human body fitted inside the suit. The wingsuit is entirely steered by the movement of the wingsuit pilot who controls glide, angle, speed, and trajectory with his body.
Loic says that originally they “just” jumped off a cliff, trying to get as far away from the cliff as they could. "Now it's getting boring, so we play around," he grins.
Boring? BORING??!!!
Sheesh!
And just look at his face when he says that, what a mischievous grin.
