Here is a video of a German trainer teaching a dog to play on an electric keyboard.  She starts with solfege syllables "do re mi", and afterward trains the dog to match pitches (an octave down!) from a penny whistle.  At the end of the video, the dog is getting 2- and 3-note phrases toward playing a melody, "Old MacDonald".
