Supporters reach over a fence to embrace Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) after a speech Saturday in Columbia, S.C. Obama said his campaign faces challenges in the upcoming flurry of primaries on

A fragmented world awaits a true uniter and that person is Barack Obama ~ whose persona, compassion and grace could well lead us to a shift in consciousness where altruism and social cooperation will replace greed and separateness for a world which can no longer resist its innate urge to unite: Allen L Roland

The world is watching the 2008 Presidential primaries and election with eager anticipation. Most of the world ( except Israel ) mistrust the Cheney/Bush administration and can't wait to see the election of a leader ~ who represents the best in American versus the worst which has been glaringly obvious with the Bush administration.

We have obviously forgotten the words of Benjamin Franklin ~ " Wise and good men are, in my opinion, the strength of the state; much more so than riches and arms. "

Dedicated at our birth to the spread of liberty and freedom ~ we have become the world's largest supplier of arms. We have supported inhumane dictatorships throughout the world, both overtly and covertly, and have sold our divine birthright for monetary and cosmetic political gains.

How can we justify that over 40% of the total amount of research and development spending since World War II has been directed at achieving military ends ?

There is only one plausible answer ~ We have been controlled by FEAR and still are in many ways with the Bush Administration.

We have obviously forgotten the words of Carl Sandburg ~  " For we know that when a nation goes down and never comes back, when a society or a civilization perishes, one condition may always be found ~ they forgot where they came from. They lost sight of what brought them along "

Barack Obama senses and speaks to this deep yearning for the best of America and the rest of the world is obviously watching, with eager anticipation, as Kevin Sullivan pointed out yesterday in the foreign edition of the Washington Post.

Democratic Primary Boosts U.S. Image Around the World

By Kevin Sullivan

LONDON, June 4 ~ For much of the world, Sen. Barack Obama's victory in the Democratic primaries was a moment to admire the United States, at a time when the nation's image abroad has been seriously damaged.

From hundreds of supporters crowded around televisions in rural Kenya, Obama's ancestral homeland, to jubilant Britons writing "WE DID IT!" on the "Brits for Barack" site on Facebook, people celebrated what they called an important racial and generational milestone for the United States.

"This is close to a miracle. I was certain that some things will not happen in my lifetime," said Sunila Patel, 62, a widow encountered on the streets of New Delhi. "A black president of the U.S. will mean that there will be more American tolerance for people around the world who are different."

I'm forced to wonder

Have you done ANY research on Obama? Beyond his flowery speeches he is the quintisential dirty chicago politician. If you think the world is eagerly awaiting a President with no history other than corruption racism and radicals...you have definately been drinking too much of the Kool Aid.

Allen

No, we are just hopefully waiting. We will tell you after the first ninety days around April the first whether we are eagerly awaiting an "Obama Presidency" or not. You might want to come back one year from now to write a second article about "The World Eagerly Awaits an Obama Presidency" or not. I hope you can still say that and be truthful. Black does not make him a good President no more than woman would have made Senator Clinton a good President.

THE WORLD EAGERLY AWAITS AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY

"THE WORLD EAGERLY AWAITS AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY" DUH, what's the definition of the word WORLD ?

I hope it's not the same definition used for Iraq, wherein the "WORLD" believed he had WMD.

Sorry Rob, certainly do not even come close to agreeing with you on this one. Has a Poll been taken of the "World"s citizens ? If not, how would you know they are eagerly awaiting Obama's election ? And don't give me the crap the "World" msm print either, we saw where that got us in Iraq and is trying to lead us with Iran.

Oh, sorry, forgot, for a moment there I understood you meant the Whole World, instead of the "World" in the U.S.

Hafta laugh though, having lived through such diverting tactics with the previous election giving the Dems control, LOL, despite all the hoo haa, and hopes the citizens of the U.S. laid on that one, where did it get them ?

And now, it's REPEAT TIME ? Crikey, Gawd spare us, what does it take for the penny to drop with you folks ?

Loose Change?

The World is ready for change.  Obama will be a vehicle for some change and that is good.  We need a good purge of the corporately owned politicians for substantial change.

Will 9/11 get a real investigation or will it receive more carpet to hide the dirt?  Will we ever see Fair Trade again or will free givaways continue to insure well rounded treasure chests for our lawmakers?  Will we ever adjudicate our War Criminals responsible for the lies that led us into our War of Agression?  Will anyone be held accountable for the rampant invasion of privacy of our citizenry?  When will lawmakers convicted of crimes lose their pensions, war chests and money made from unethical business while in office?

I think we will end up with less change then we had hoped.  Will we get out of Iraq?  Will we get Osama Bin Laden?  Only time will tell.
