Now that Strauss-Kahn has been released on his own recognizance, some interesting questions are being asked.

Attorney Wendy Murphy was asking some good ones and making some interesting observation on MSNBC.

She commented,
"Call me a cynic but I sort of thought this more predictable than others. ...this guys got a lot of money. This case is going to go poof. It's really about what story will come out to make it seem legitimate.

I'm very suspicious of this story on so many levels.
Number one, if it remains the case that the defense is "consent" and she says it wasn't consensual, who cares whether she's lied in the past. Let a jury figure out who's telling the truth now. If we're going to make judgments on what's been done in the past, DFK has a history of past sexual offenses.

So does that mean he really is guilty and let's not even have a trial? Do we make such judgments about people's pasts? And look, let's remember, right away, in this case, DFK had people in Africa offering this woman money in exchange for her to make the whole case go away....

What I'm saying is everyone will point the finger at the other one and the case will go away.

What I want to know is did money change hands. This is a very wealthy man-- there was already money offered to her family in Africa-- someone should be looking at the story behind the story.

My opinion is, I don't care if she lied in the past. I don't care if he committed a sexual offense in the past. A jury should decide this case. And if a prosecutor has any integrity, that prosecutor should will  this case proceed to trial and let a jury decide the evidence. But that would require the system to be one of justice and truth instead of ch-ching. That's how I feel."
