There has got to be something good that the Republican Party can stand for. Out of blind luck, the party at some point has to stumble upon a Deeply Held Belief that is not rooted to bigotry, or corporate hand holding, or reasons why fewer people ought to be voting these days. Instead we've got Steve King running policy, and countless calls for constitutional changes to patch things when the Supreme Court doesn't rule their way, and Donald Trump running on an explicitly xenophobic "platform" that kicks him up a few points in the polls whenever he yells it.
