Sickcare or Healthcare or Something Beyond Either Concept.

I have heard the shouting about medical insurance until I’m sick of hearing it. Why not explore Health Assurance? Why not start a program that is community based to do something about the major causes of bad health in the community?

Why not once a year, or more often depending on the results have a low cost  Health assessment by not just Medical Doctors but nutrition experts, fitness experts, and every other health related expert be it herbs or cardiology or energy healers or the local health food store.

Each of them collaborating in evaluating, advising and planning with the individual a true Health Maintenance and Improvement program for that person. Note I did not say patient but person. This could be sponsored by a local business, a local religious group or a local charity to begin with. Follow up by helping the people who are evaluated and advised to carry out the various Health Improvement ideas over the course of a year and see what the result is.

I guarantee it will be lower in cost, more effective in prevention and more empowering to the people who participate then anything being done now.

Note I did not say prescribing, but planning with the person actions to improve that persons health and well being. Such will also have to have mental health and spiritual health advisors adding their inputs.

However, the program decided on will be what the person being helped decides is right for him or her. It will have to have short term and year long goals that are reachable, low cost and sustainable. In other words goals that are set by the person themselves and aided by the community as a whole. For young people, it will of necessity include the parents or guardians in the decision making.

Just as the family has to be included in the individuals plans. Who can start such a program? Take a look in the mirror. I intend to start a program like this here in Greene County, TN if I have to browbeat everyone into it. Who will join me in your community?

Even the traditional insurance carriers should join in support of this, as it would bring down their cost also. What do you think? Comments please.
