Comedy writer, Steve Young, is asking for a senatorial condemnation of the Republican Presidential candidate.
"There comes a point when people, or satirists, must take a stand, albeit one packed full of irony and farce," said award-winning TV comedy writer, Steve Young. "And that time has come with John McCain's latest campaign commercial, comparing Barack Obama with Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears. "
Young will be asking his senators, Arlen Specter and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania to introduce a rebuke of McCain's attack on satirists' rights to the floor of the Senate.
Young says that McCain is crossing the line and threatening his livelihood.
"It's not like we go to Washington and pass legislation, except, of course, for that one about allowing President Bush's speeches to go out unedited. But that was too rich a source to let it get buried by executive privilege.""
"McCain went to far this time," says Young. " Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears. Why didn't he just throw in a crotch shot of Lindsey Lohan?"
Young claims that this isn't the first time McCain has ventured into satirist territory.
"First the 'Bomb, bomb Iran' parody. Then the moving of Iraq to the Pakistan border. But now he trying to do our work for us and he has to be stopped before we're left to just write worthless blogs."
Young, who blogs at steveyoungonpolitics.com, says other satirists are outraged claiming that they can't even come up with a good joke about the commercial.
The Onion: Spoof a spoof? We don't do double negatives.
Will Durst: I'm just gonna bring it on stage and play it.
Jon Stewart: I got nuthin'.
National Lampoon: We're just glad John Belushi wasn't alive... READ THE REST OF THE STORY HERE.
