Today being Halloween many will be visited by little trick-or-treaters coming to our doors shouting, “Trick or treat!” and by our doors we will have treats to hand out to them. Being a mom, I love seeing the creative costumes worn by these adorable children. In fact, I cannot wait to see them.
In keeping with this day there are tricksters and those who love to tell a good tale to frighten all of us and one of them is Sarah Palin. Palin is trying to relay to the American electorate that Senator Barack Obama is incapable of handling U.S. security challenges. This coming from a woman who has been called a ‘whack-job’ by the McCain campaign itself. There seems to be a disconnect in sounding any alarm by someone seen in that light by those close to her.
Let us all sit around in a circle with flash lights underneath our chin to hear her scary story. This should be fun.
When Palin cites how Barack Obama had little to say of the wars we are fighting in his half-hour presentation it is because the economy is the number one issue that Americans care about as they lose their jobs, their homes as well as their health-care. Americans are embattled in their own wars here at home just to make ends meet. But make no mistake, Barack Obama does care about the wars that are being fought overseas in the Middle East. He unlike McCain realizes that the war in Iraq must come to an end at some point since that war is costing the American tax payer $10 billion dollars a month.
It is Barack Obama who truly realizes that we must put our focus back where it originated and that is within Afghanistan to fight Al Qaeda and the Taliban. It is Barack Obama who has mentioned several times that if he becomes our president, he will go after Osama bin Laden. A name left out of both McCain’s and Palin’s acceptance speeches at the RNC. Had Palin watched Rachel Maddow’s interview with Barack Obama, she would have heard so.
Palin blatantly cited a false-hood by saying that Barack Obama does not support our troops. First of all, it was Barack Obama who voted in favor of the GI bill for our troops where McCain did not.
If one visits VetVoice.com, displayed for all to read is McCain’s dismal record where he has voted time and time again against our troops and veterans. I want all of my readers to read this site. It is just incredible to see how a former military man has failed our troops and veterans.
Palin also said of Barack Obama, "He wants to soften the focus in these closing days, hoping your mind won't wander to the real challenges of national security that he is incapable of meeting,"
First of all, Americans do need some comfort at this time coming from Barack Obama instead of being shouted at through mockery by John McCain. Americans have been through some trying times and have become exhausted as they face their own fears of what the future holds for them. Yes, many Americans are tuned into national security, but if one truly wants to defend our country, we must have a sound economy instead of borrowing billions from China to support a war in Iraq. Both Bush and McCain have increased our debt where those moneys could have been used to better defend ourselves from financial turmoil as well as another terrorist attack.
Exactly what is Palin’s plan to fight the narco-terrorism that has spilled across our border to the south where innocent Americans are being caught in the cross-hairs?
You know, folks, I could go through this entire article to shoot Palin’s assertions down where she is trying to tell us a good scary story concerning Barack Obama, but again, I point to her own campaign rallies.
Her rallies have been racially charged where any number of scenarios could have occurred within our borders where hateful people could have done real damage to any one of us. Is that keeping America secure? Is that putting country first? She could have stopped it dead in its tracks but failed to do so.
Instead this ‘whack-job’ stoked the fires of hate within our own borders not realizing how her word were and are being received by the nut-jobs who may wish to cause so many of us harm.
This is where America must reject her message and send this ‘Diva’ back to Alaska where hopefully she will be impeached for an abuse of power.
In keeping with a scary theme on this Halloween Day, I will end this piece by citing, Senator Thad Cochran who is a Republican senator had to say of John McCain, “The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine," Cochran told the Globe. "He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."
If that is not the most realistic Halloween scare story I have heard, I do not know what else is.
