Revolution on the Installment Plan

Tell A Friend

If you're like me, you, too, are still waiting for the revolution we were promised, back in 2000, when the Supremes stole the election, and it was "fascists night out..."

Back then, those fundamentalists on the Left  were certain that when we were robbed of our privacy, free speech, a dissenting media, and due process, when the credit card companies scalped us with their egregious 30% rates, when our bosses paid less in taxes than we did, people would show up in outrage.  Instead, they took to their trailers, and reality TV.

Even what's left of the Left was too busy reading Marcuse, or watching "Gunsmoke" in syndication; too many text messaging to bother with taking to the streets.     Instead of Che Guevara, we got "Sex in the City," and ruminations about revolution were replaced by striving for the perfect orgasm.

The 1960's mantra "turn on, tune in, drop out" has been transformed, by Generation I-Pod, into tune out.  Not listening has been transformed into an artform;  not paying for anything has become the first stop on the road to grace, and grace is a Ford Explorer with an endless trunk.

The good news is, we can stop waiting for something that is already here.     The revolution already happened back in 1994, the Republican revolution, and the Left has been in denial ever since.   Okay, so they bungled the spelling-- revolution became "revelation;" nevertheless a deranged bunch of apocalypse hackers have taken over leaving the rest of us in denial.    You thought only liberal fringe groups would revolt?

McCain-Palin ticket is living proof that Gingrich, Quayle, Frist, and other evangelistas have triumphed; proof that liberals don't have a patent on the revolution; proof that, while no one was looking, not only an election was stolen, but everything that our grandparents fought for was, too.

Let's not kid ourselves:  the revolution Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, and others had in mind may not come with Obama either, but with Obama will come an administration that can spell, and that will raise taxes on those who have been cannibalizing our paychecks, stock options, and IRAs, for the past two decades, not provide incentives for more gluttony.

Don't believe what he says:  "deregulation" is John McCain's middle name, and the mere mention of the words "free market" make Sarah Palin salivate more than the sight of a saturday night special.

The Republican platform has long extolled the virtues of "free market" deregulation, and caused the trickle-down mess we find ourselves in today.     Don't let their populist agitprop fool you--just picture Palin shooting wolves from 20,000 feet, and calling for open season on deer.... that's the Kodac moment we all need to have come election day.

Don't be deceived:  should McCain-Palin prevail in November "the land of the free" will become the home of the hunter, and the meek had better run for cover.

Karl Marx would tell you that revolution comes in stages, but even Karl Marx couldn't have predicted this one.

Waiting for the revolution is, indeed, a bit like "Waiting for Godot;"  go-dot, go...

NOT TO WORRY

When McCain wins, we will soon have a draft.  Then things should start to stir a bit.

Just a couple of asides:  (1) the sixties movement was basically libertarian in nature although there was a core of Marxists within it that gave the movement some focus and direction, and (2) Marx wrote in terms of centuries, not years or even decades, as those who always say Marx has been proven wrong are prone to presume.  If anything, current events prove he has been right all along.  As a Christian, I part with him in certain areas, but not in his critique of capitalism and its inevitable transistion into socialism, and there is much to be gained by the study of his works and those of Lenin.

Your writing is always a joy to read.

Kudos

It is sad to see a "Revolution" changed to a Mass-distraction!

 I applaud your observations!

There's still a good chance we won't have an election ...

I still can't shake a feeling that before this election any number of events could take place to either throw this election or have it postponed altogether.

The catalyst is 9/11, another war and the economy.

Number one is 9/11. It's not going away. This isn't the Kennedy killing or like any other Black-ops operation in the past that was easily covered-up. It was too big, too sloppy a crime and today we have electronic communication making it nearly impossible to cover it up as they have in the past. Everyday more and more people are coming to grips with the fact that what we were told of the day was a monstrous lie. There are several candidates running for congress and senate that are 9/11 Truthers that have good chances of getting in.

There is no way that those that perpetrated 9/11 will be held accountable without them doing everything in their power preventing that from happening, and that includes another "false-flag" attack, starting another war with a take your pick grab-bag of terrorist de'jour country.

Starting a war would of course boost Mccain's chances tremendously. Why it would is lost to me. In the twisted logic of today's propagandists, we unfortunately have people that seem to be easily manipulated into thinking that for some reason the Republican party is better at handling war. How they can think that after the mess we're in now escapes me, but the perception is there none the less. Starting another war may well cause such turmoil that elections could be postponed altogether.

Of course a continued and rapid collapse of our economy alone could be enough to cause this, but I don't think there's enough time for the full effects of rapid inflation, food shortages, massive unemployment to take effect before the election to have something like Martial Law declared. After the election, again, if it happens, I would give it a 99% chance of this happening. Unless of course bush&co starts another war than we'd have a total collapse over-night.

Either way I have a eriee feeling that 9/11 will hang in the back-ground as one, if not the reason, for Dark Forces to do everything in their power to prevent being exposed.

For when, it's not an "if", 9/11 explodes, belief systems of every dimension would crumble. Not just the Republican party, but our whole system of government, our financial systems (which are crumbling already), ancient dynasties, and it would bleed into other countries as well.

If there is to be a catalyst for a revolution 9/11 is it. The question is will the Supremes blow us all to hell first in their own version of a scorched Earth policy before we can gain the mass needed to form said revolution.

Because 9/11 is just too big to let go. Even the most oblivious among us would rise-up in moral indignation over the murder of 3,000 innocent people and then having those that murdered them use their deaths to further an agenda that would murder millions more.

A line was crossed with 9/11. Whether there are enough people who can get past the denial that comes with having your entire belief system torn asunder to do something about it is our next question. And if there is, will we be able to stop another false-flag attack, prevent Martial Law, or another war that could throw us all into an abyss we'll never climb out of?

The revolution is there and 9/11 is it's lynch-pin.

Path to nonviolent revolution

Is through constitutional amendments:

How to Celebrate Constitution Day

Joel S. Hirschhorn

Every year, September 17 is Constitution Day, but very, very few Americans know this or will celebrate it.  If you think of yourself as a politically engaged, civic-minded and patriotic American, then the way to celebrate is by expanding your mind about a critically important but never-used part of our Constitution.

First, people should help get friends, relatives and co-workers to go to www.foavc.org the site of Friends of the Article V Convention and spend some time learning the truth about the option given to us by the Framers because they anticipated that Americans would lose trust and confidence in the federal government.  That day has surely arrived.  Tell them to suspend their current beliefs and fears and open their minds to learning the truth about this convention option.

An Article V convention was envisioned as a temporary fourth branch of the federal government that, once convened, was not under the control of Congress, the President or the Supreme Court.  The convention of state delegates could only propose constitutional amendments, just as Congress has done during our history, and like those they would have to be ratified by three-quarters of the states.

So why have we never had an Article V convention?

Congress has refused to obey the Constitution and the oath of office by not respecting the one and only requirement for a convention given in Article V.  That is applications from two-thirds of the states.  Well, here is an indisputable fact that you can verify by going to www.foavc.org: there have been over 600 such state applications and this group is the first and only group to make these available to the public (the job of posting these is not quite yet complete).

Why has Congress refused to allow us to have an Article V convention?  They and all established political interests on the left and right fear direct democracy as manifest through such a convention.  They fear many kinds of constitutional amendments that are the only way to obtain major, systemic political reforms.  Many examples of possible amendments are on our site, though our organization does not advocate for any amendment, staying totally committed to a nonpartisan advocacy to compel Congress to grant us the first Article V convention.

Want to rid the political system of corruption by moneyed interests?  Then contemplate an amendment that would remove all private money from all political campaigns and activities, replacing it with strict and pure public financing.  This approach has been called Clean Money/Clean Elections and has worked when adopted by several states.

Want to eliminate the perverse impacts of using the Electoral College for presidential elections?  Then contemplate an amendment replacing it with the popular vote.

Want to reduce the excessive powers accumulated by the presidency?  Then think about an amendment prohibiting presidential signing statements that undermine the legislative actions of Congress, and also making it unconstitutional for Congress, in any way, to transfer its power and authority to declare war to the president.

Not only should people go to www.foavc.org to expand their knowledge, they should also consider becoming a member of the organization so that it becomes strong enough to impose effective pressure on Congress to obey the Constitution.  What a fine way to celebrate Constitution Day – every year until success is achieved.
