poised to take control by vixdojo.com

Someone needs to get this message to the Senate Democrats and, especially, their apathetic leadership: "Suck it up, stop acting like a bunch of whipped dogs and, for once, go on the offensive against those Republican control freaks that are determined to take over the U.S. Senate."

Poll after poll indicates that the probability of the GOP regaining control of the U.S. Senate is as high as 60% to 70%, and that most certainly does not bode well for Democrats. So, in the face of this very dire news what might you think that the Democratic leadership in the Senate would be doing; mobilizing all its resources and organizing a huge effort to go all out and meet this challenge head on?

Absolutely not. Instead of rallying all the troops to launch a massive offensive to retain the Senate what do we hear from the Democrats? Well, it's a combination of silence and negative reactive actions. Just take a look at this article and especially note its title, "Fear of Voting Grips Democratic Chiefs." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is taking steps to "protect endangered Democrats from casting tough votes" and it is apparent that Democrats are "hunkering down" to stay away from controversial legislation in the months preceding this election. That's what born losers do.

What kind of spineless behavior is that? You would think that Reid would, instead, be implementing various strategies and scenarios that clearly illustrate how Democrats are working to bring badly needed legislation up for a vote and how the Republicans are doing everything in their power, including their endless use of filibusters, to obstruct every such attempt. They need to shine the spotlight on Republicans and expose them for what they are; obstructionists of the highest order.

The people of America are looking for strong, courageous leadership, not a bunch of wimps who, instead of fighting for what is right for this country, back down and refuse to do battle with their antagonists. There are many things that the Republicans stand for that are totally against the wishes of the American people; but the one reason why so many millions of Americans still support them is that they sort of admire their strength and resolve versus a perceived weakness and lack of aggressiveness on the part of Democrats.

Here's what needs to be done, that is, if the Democrats can somehow summon up the political courage: show the American people that the Republicans are against virtually every issue the majority of Americans support: reach out to the rapidly increasing Hispanic population and show its people how the GOP is totally against immigration reform; show unemployed workers how these Republicans, the chief facilitators of the Corporatists' agenda, are against increasing the minimum wage, against extending unemployment benefits, and against job creation; show how they are against the food stamp program, and against dealing with climate change.

Then spread the word across this land that they are for destroying Social Security and Medicare, for killing the Affordable Health Care Act, and for maintaining and increasing levels of inequality of income in America. Show how they are, in many states, doing everything they can to suppress voting to keep people away from the polls.

Show how they are intent on restricting the rights of women, controlling their bodies, and "keeping them in their own place." Use the GOP's "War on women" to motivate the women of this country to throw that twisted agenda right back in their chauvinistic faces by turning out to vote en masse, using their power to rid the Senate of these political slugs.

Here is an excellent illustration of political cruelty, an excerpt from an alternet.com article that states: "When Republicans in Congress chose in December not to renew the federally funded emergency unemployment compensation (EUC) program for Americans who had been out of work for six months or more, 1.3 million people suddenly lost the small weekly check they were using to tide them over until they could find a job. And about 10 percent or 130,000 of them were military veterans.

That kind of treatment of these unemployed Americans, and especially the veterans, is absolutely disgusting and repulsive and shows just how cruel these sociopathic politicians are by nature. They have no problem with sending young Americans into mindless wars but when the troops come home, many of them severely wounded, they want no part of them. The mass of Americans need to be constantly reminded about this heartless behavior.

Here are some of the political strategies that the Democratic Party should be using to inform the American people what this election is all about and then using every resource at their disposal to make this next voter turnout one of the greatest in modern American history:

First and above all; attack, attack, attack. Start a powerful, relentless campaign across this country to expose the Republicans for what they do, portray them as total obstructionists and destructionists. Every tactic must have the final aim of turning out the vote. Here's an article by John Nichols that gives advice on how to do it. He advises that "Lesson One: Turnout is definitional" and "Lesson Two: Turnout can be substantially increased, even in the most difficult of circumstances, with focused energy, resources and messaging." So the overriding objective must be: "Turnout, Turnout, Turnout."

Experts following this election indicate that the Republicans can take control of the Senate by capturing six states that Democrats currently hold. The most likely states in which they can do this are Alaska, Iowa, North Caroline, Louisiana, Arkansas and Montana. In addition Republicans would have to hang onto two Senate seats; the one held by Republican Senator Mitch McConnell in Kentucky and the open Georgia seat.

These are the key states on which the Democrats should be concentrating and pumping in massive amounts of campaign funds in order to support their candidates; this is where they must channel a lion's share of their resources and efforts. This is "ground zero", this is where the action will be. Don't the Democrats get it, don't they see what they must do? Do they need someone to draw them a picture or must they get their leaders enrolled in a crash course on Politics 101?

Democrats have just watched and done very little to combat the aggressive voter suppression laws that Republicans have initiated in any number of states as their main strategy to win elections. With just over 4 months to go before this election, the Democrats should already be implementing their own tactics and advising potential Democratic voters in these states under Republican control on how to meet these new stringent voting requirements. They need to make certain that the maximum numbers of their supporters vote. What are these Democrats waiting for, what's it going to take to get them off their butts?
