According to CBS News, "GOP Rep. Fred Upton (D-Mich.), the incoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said on "Fox News Sunday" yesterday that the House will vote to repeal President Obama's key legislative accomplishments before he delivers his State of the Union address at the end of this month. What's more, he promised that they'll garner enough votes to overcome a presidential veto -- a tall order under any circumstances."

Their first plan of action, led by Sen. Mitch "the lizard" McConnell, is to pummel Obama's flank by dismantling health-care reform piece by piece, ensuring that no sick child will have any kind of coverage, ever. This effort is already underway in the courts as scattered lawsuits have been filed challenging key provisions of the reform act. Now the Grinches in Congress are lining up to file "friend of the court" briefs in support of these challenges, and Minnesota Governor (and 2012 wannabe GOP presidential candidate) Tim Pawlenty has vowed to block implementation of the law in his state.

Bad news for Minnesotans, especially those with kids who suffer from a preexisting medical condition, like leukemia or diabetes. I often wonder -- where is the compassion in the conservatives? Is it all reserved for the Big Insurance corporations and their slimy lobbyists?

Back to their battle plan:

The new chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee -- Rep. Darryl Issa (R/CA) -- has been selected to mount the full-on frontal assault on Obama, promising to investigate every inch of what he characterized to Rush Limbaugh as the "most corrupt president in modern times." He's clearly the right guy for the job, as he knows a thing or two about corruption since he faced criminal charges for faking the theft of his own Mercedes, then trying to sell it to an unsuspecting car dealer, as well as illegal possession of a firearm.

Then there's the deficit and the prospect of raising the debt ceiling. Rep. Michelle Bachman (R/MN) is advancing with both barrels blazing on the Sunday talk shows, raging against the "Obama deficit" which -- as she purposely forgot to mention -- was recently enlarged by the GOP's extension of the BUsh tax cuts for the wealthy. Amazing how that works, isn't it?

So in summation, the new Congress will focus on attacking Obama for crap Bush did. GOP hypocrisy, old year or new year, it's a never-changing constant.
