Russian President Vladimir Putin

Ever since the US inspired coup in Kiev in February, 2014 it's been non-stop bashing of Vladimir Putin and Russia by the US State Department particularly Undersecretary of State for European and Asian Affairs Victoria Nuland, the ranting of Senate Foreign Relations Chairman madman John McCain, US General and NATO Commander Philip Breedlove wanting more troops and heavier weapons for Kiev, the corporate MSM demonizing Putin along with the trumped up nonsense coming from the post coup regime of Petro Poroshenko.

Putin is the new Hitler; Putin wants to reestablish the old Soviet Union; Putin has sent Russian troops into eastern Ukraine; Putin gave the Russian speaking, ethnic Ukrainian separatists the missiles that took down the Malaysian passenger liner; all baseless allegations without offering any proof.

The primary purpose to it all? Get Putin to "take the bait" and invade Ukraine thus providing the cassis belli for NATO to escalate the conflict and engulf the country into wider war. The only "problem" Putin isn't biting.

Think about it; the people in Crimea-ever fearful of their fate to remain a part of Ukraine under the new post coup regime-held a popular referendum and voted overwhelmingly to join the Russian Federation. Yet it was characterized in the west as Putin annexing Crimea rather than the people taking the initiative to assert their own self determination.

After Poroshenko came to power he unleashed Neo Nazi, Right Sector and Svoboda thugs to form a new national militia, sent them into eastern Ukraine where they proceeded to kill thousands of innocent Russian speaking, ethnic Ukrainian's until farmers and miners formed their own local resistance, surrounded the militia's to either die in death cauldrons or letting them surrender and retreat back to Kiev.

Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and France's Francois Hollande seeing the potential for a wider war traveled to Minsk, Belarus and together with Putin established the Minsk II ceasefire that thus far-despite repeated incidents to break it-has held.

Though the US was not invited and didn't take part in the Minsk II ceasefire negotiations, Secretary of State John Kerry and a State Department delegation traveled to Sochi, Russia, met with Putin and afterward told Poroshenko the ceasefire and negotiations is the only way forward for Ukraine.

But no sooner than Kerry returns to Washington his words to Poroshenko are forgotten and further weapon zing the Ukraine regime is pushed by the Congress.

Then there's Obama now in full legacy mode, wanting a final nuclear deal with Iran to be signed off in the next few days, yet he needs Russia and China as part of the P5+1 negotiations to seal the deal. But the US Senate has to ratify any final deal with Iran which puts under a cloud whether any deal can ever be finalized.

From here, to say the least US policy is in disarray. The neo-cons hold sway in the Senate, the State Department, the Beltway think tanks, the TV talking heads, The NGO's like the National Endowment for Democracy funded by the US government are all meant to demonize, destabilize and undermine regimes that don't follow US diktat.

But all to what avail?

Putin isn't about to initiate a wider war in Ukraine. His intentions seem to be developing closer military and economic ties with China, set in motion a new gas pipeline under the Black Sea into Turkey then on into Greece and lately according to Mike Whitney's latest column [1], working behind the scene with Germany to build a new Nord Stream gas pipeline from Russia, through the Gulf of Finland, into the Baltic Sea and entering directly into Germany thus avoiding all eastern Europe.

Of course this latest Russian/German gas pipeline plan is causing US apoplexy because a real Russian/ German entente could begin to unravel US hegemony over Germany and possibly begin the breakup of NATO as a US proxy military force.

For too long, intimidation and ultimatums, creating instability, initiating false flag operations, coups, assassinations, wars and occupations, training and weapon zing proxy forces to overthrow governments resistant to US hegemony has essentially become US policy. It's produced utter failure-except for the US weapons manufacturers and their corporate henchmen that benefit from endless war.

I believe the world is coming to its senses and beginning to openly resist US hegemony. We're seeing this most prominently in South America-Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cuba, the BRICS-Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, Greece, Turkey.

Economic development, not war and instability is the key element for a new world order that won't be dominated by the US.
