President Obama, Your Administration Is Embracing Fascism

Dear President Obama,

I'll be as respectful as possible as I love my liberty and freedom, however, recent developments have made it clear that your administration is embracing a fascist government.  As a patriotic American, it is my duty to bring it to your attention that the public is slowly realizing that freedom of speech - the essence of a free society - has been compromised in the United States.  Damn the consequences of being so direct!.  In fact, it appears that your administration is embracing the very soul of a fascist government - and rather than exposing it - you used it to your advantage!

Shame on you Mr. Obama! You took an oath to protect our constitution and the rule of law, yet when it was to your advantage, your White House side-stepped a growing trend of corporate control of our airwaves, and instead of exposing it to the people and demanding that it stop immediately - used it for your own advantage without questioning the strangle-hold that corporate America has over every aspect of our daily lives. Actions such as I have spoken of manifest cowardice - not the strength of character that we would expect from a newly elected President of The United States!

For those who are not aware of what I'm speaking of, You only have to read the article published by Salon.com which exposed that America's right-wing Mainstream News Media was reluctant to broadcast President Obama's news conference on health care - which to me was a startling revelation that our news media was hesitant to broadcast an important statement made by our President, which to me, undermines the very essence of democracy and the American people's right to know about issues that affect our everyday lives. As if this wasn't bad enough, the way the Obama administration handled the situation was by acknowledging that corporate America controlled our news, and instead of appealing to the American people to express our outrage, this is how President Obama's Chief of Staff handled the situation, shaming the fundamentals of a free society!

The scope - and dangers - of GE's control of NBC and MSNBC

That it is GE which controls the editorial decisions of NBC and MSNBC is an open secret in Washington.  Just today, The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz wrote about Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's actions after learning that the news networks were reluctant to broadcast Obama's most recent press conference on health care.  Did Emanuel attempt to pressure NBC executives to capitulate to White House demands to broadcast that event?  No; he obviously knew who really makes editorial decisions for those networks:

In the days before President Obama's last news conference, as the networks weighed whether to give up a chunk of their precious prime time, Rahm Emanuel went straight to the top.

Rather than calling ABC, the White House chief of staff phoned Bob Iger, chief executive of parent company Disney. Instead of contacting NBC, Emanuel went to Jeffrey Immelt, the chief executive of General Electric. He also spoke with Les Moonves, the chief executive of CBS, the company spun off from Viacom.

Apparently, Rahm Emanuel isn't confused about who the real bosses are at America's major news networks.  Although Kurtz claims that Immelt who was named by Obama as a member of his Economics Advisory Board told Emanuel that this would be a decision for NBC's Jeff Zucker to make, all networks ultimately acceded to Emanuel's demands, directed to the CEOs of the parent corporations, and broadcast Obama's press conference, just as the White House demanded they do. President Obama, the manner in which Rahm Emanuel handled this outrage by the MSM acknowledged that corporate America is in firm control of our news, and demonstrates that instead of "real news", we are fed the corporate line by million-dollar salaried News Anchors that wouldn't even know how to spell integrity or patriotism and have sold their journalistic souls to fascist America! Furthermore President Obama, you could have addressed this issue to the American people in your Saturday radio address - and the outrage by the people would have forced these fascist conglomerates to broadcast your Press Conference, however, my guess is that you took your adviser's advice - which is nothing more that dealing with the criminals that caused this mess in the first place! How can you govern effectively when you have surrounded yourself with corporate shills whose advice represent corporate America - not the people?

The economy in the United State is driven by consumer spending, not the wealth of the financial sector. I almost begged you to make the stimulus a bottom-up investment- as did others, stimulating the people rather than the banks, which would have made its way to the banking community as consumer spending accelerated - but instead, you chose to take the advice of Timothy Geithner and Ben Bernanke and other corporate shills that were more interested in squandering taxpayer money on financial sector bailouts while America's Middle-class was being decimated by the outsourcing of our light and heavy manufacturing.

Yes President Obama, I received my $300.00 of Federal Stimulus money which was gone to catch-up on overdue utility bills as I and millions of other Americans have had to pay outrageous fees for electricity which your administration has failed to address. In reality, compared to the financial sector bailouts, the help that has "trickled down" to the American people as been negligible and the $300.00 you threw at an ailing economy was an insult to our intelligence - not anything that truly helped to invigorate the economy. For all practical purposes, it was a pittance designed to momentarily stop our griping as we witnessed your administration transferring trillions of dollars of taxpayer wealth to the financial sector!

The small excerpt that I quoted from Salon.com was far down in the article, and I hope that everyone will follow that link as Glenn Greenwald exposes the corporate forces that are now running the White House itself. Fascism has not crept into the Obama administration, but has bulldozed itself into power that only a strong President can break - and unfortunately, Barack Obama has only shown us weakness and accepts no advice from anyone other than those who are spending countless millions of dollars on lobbying - which is covered in great detail in the article I quoted above. Read it yourself and form your own opinion - but remember one detail; some of the corporations that are spending millions of dollars in paying off our Congress are some of the same who participated in the failed fascist takeover of the United States in the 1930's - and unless there is "an awakening" in the United States and Prescient Obama changes course, the future of freedom of speech, personal liberty and freedom may become nothing more than a memory as General Electric and other large corporate interests continue to dictate policy in the White House - not who we elected to be our President!

NOTE: I am greatly saddened that Obama supporters, which I was - don't even bother to click-through and read the substantiation for my allegations by reading the article on Salon.com in its entirety. The evidence is damning, and corporate America is buying our Congress, lock, stock and barrel, however, it seems that Obama supporters are too lazy or refuse to admit that they, like me, made a huge mistake by voting him into the Presidency.
