Some things never change. Israel has, over many years, blockaded, bombed, invaded and turned the city of Gaza into a living hell. And guess what? The government of Israel is at it again. Yes, some things never do change, they go on and on and on, with no end in sight.
As fully expected President Obama recently went before the national media and, once again, stated, "We are fully supportive of Israel's right to defend itself." You say "We" Mr. President? You and the Congress may fully support how Israel continues to brutally suppress and oppress the people of Gaza but please do not say that you speak for the many millions of Americans who find these acts to be against international law and the principles of morality.
It is high time that Mr. Obama, the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize do something to earn that distinction and promote peace, which brings people together. What in the world is stopping him from at least trying to establish peace between those two antagonists such as Presidents Carter and Clinton did in the past? When is he going to stop being subservient and deferential to Bibi Netanyahu who has only one thing in mind; the control and domination of the Palestinian people?
Mr. Obama is fully aware that this ongoing blockade of Gaza by Israel is suffocating the people of Gaza and preventing the entry of many of the necessities of life, in particular, medical supplies and equipment desperately needed in overcrowded hospitals. It was recently reported that that an attempt to deliver 100 wheelchairs badly needed for those who had lost their legs or feet in previous attacks on Gaza was denied.
It has now been confirmed that the Israeli military, during the blockade of the city of Gaza from 2007 to 2010, followed a policy that restricted and controlled the amount of food and the calories that the people of Gaza would be allowed to consume. This is yet one more example of the extreme and immoral acts being perpetrated against other human beings. Is it any wonder that, after being subjected to this kind of treatment over so many years, that the militants of that population are striking back by sending rockets into Israel?
President Obama hears, he sees, he knows exactly what is going on but he is simply tied to the unbreakable tradition of defending Israel no matter what they do to other nations and people in the Middle East; and no matter the degree to which the government of Israel continues to keep the people of the city of Gaza penned up like animals, nothing ever changes, the U.S. government still fully supports Israel no matter what it does.
